I’m back with more sci-fi/fantasy Christmas book recommendations! (And one Hanukkah book this time!) When I first started making these posts, I didn’t think there were that many books out there, but it turns out there are actually A LOT. I am a mood reader, and last December, the mood to read SFF Christmas romances hit me strong, so I have a lot of those here. I also have a couple that aren’t romance-focused, in case that’s your thing. Hopefully something for everyone.

As I sometimes do with these posts, I’ve included a few books I haven’t read, but I’ll update with my thoughts if I do ever read and review them. I just figure, I can’t imagine I’m ever going to read every sci-fi/fantasy Christmas book in existence, but that doesn’t mean other people won’t like them and that they don’t deserve to be mentioned!

All I Want for Christmas is a Faerie Assassin?! by H. L. Macfarlane

This romance is about a woman summoning a faerie to be her fake date for the holidays but accidentally getting an assassin, and it’s so much fun!

Satan Claus is Coming to Town by Catherine Lievens

This is a sweet m/m series (so far a duology, not sure if there will be more) about different characters in each book. The first is about Satan and a human he meets, the second the archangel Gabriel and Satan’s assistant.

My Christmas Spirit by K.C. Wells

This m/m Christmas romance about a man’s former partner coming back as a ghost (and a naked one, at that) to help him move on and find happiness with someone new is very silly but also cute.

The Red Button by Keith Eldred

This one is described as a sweet Regency romance. I don’t know how Christmassy this book is since I haven’t read it yet, but it’s a prequel about Scrooge, whom we all know as a beloved (or not so beloved) classic Christmas character. And don’t worry, I’ve been told there are ghosts!

A Christmas Carriage Ride and Other Stories by Kitty-Lydia Dye

This one is a collection of eight short stories based on classics, all taking place around Christmastime, and they really capture the classic book feel and atmosphere.

Swashbucklers by Dan Hanks

I haven’t read this one, but I know it takes place at Christmas-time and is a supposed to be a fun, action-packed, ghost-hunting romp full of 80s nostalgia. Since I don’t have a review, here’s a great review at Offbeat YA (though don’t worry if you’re not into YA, this one isn’t YA).

The Remaking of Corbin Wale by Roan Parrish

I know I said these are Christmas books, but I slipped one Hanukkah one in here! This m/m romance taking place around the holidays is lightly magical with a fairytale-esque feel, about two men who might or might not have magic abilities, one of whom believes he’s cursed to lose his partner if he ever falls in love.

Those Bloody Christmas Elves by Emmi Lawrence (Deadly Holidays Series)

This is a m/m romance novella involving evil Christmas elves who kidnap children, a man who’s trying to stop them, and a man who’s daughter gets kidnapped. It’s fun if you want a more action-filled Christmas story. There’s a second book out about the same characters, though I haven’t had the chance to read it yet.

Ebenezer by JoSelle Vanderhooft

I haven’t read this one, but it’s a f/f retelling of A Christmas Carol, and from the reviews, it sounds like it has some lovely writing and imagery and a touching story.

Krampus Hates Christmas by Andi Van

Last but certainly not least (since I loved this one), this novella is about Krampus being sent to live among humans in order to find his Christmas spirit, with a super cute dating-but-taking-it-slow m/m romance!
