Bookish Musings: Why I Love Graphic Novels & Comics (Sometimes Even More than Regular Books)

Bookish Musings: Why I Love Graphic Novels & Comics (Sometimes Even More than Regular Books)

When I first started book blogging in 2015, reading a story in comic form never even crossed my mind as a thing to do. This is probably going to sound horribly judgmental or maybe just ignorant, but when I thought of comics, I thought of superheroes and Sunday newspapers, and that was about it. That was all I knew of. But then I started hearing the term graphic novel, which somehow sounded a lot...

Book Review: The Devil’s Standoff (The Devil’s Revolver Book 2) by V.S. McGrath

Hettie and her posse managed to escape after all the trouble they got into, but they're still on the run, and they still need to get her mage gun back to its creator so that he can break the bond and unmake the gun. They head to a village in Mexico, but between sorcerers, chupacabras, and everyone who's still after them, things might be more difficult than they...

Update: Life and Books (3/25/18)

So the past two weeks have been... weeks. I'm tired. I'm still trying to figure out the recent health issues. I've been feeling a little bit better since cutting out a bunch of foods though, so that's good at least, though I'm not sure the actual cause. Anyway, I've talked enough about that for the past few updates, so I'll try to be more positive today and move onto the bookish stuff...

Bookish Musings: Thoughts on the Harry Potter Series (Part 2)

Bookish Musings: Thoughts on the Harry Potter Series (Part 2)

I recently reread the Harry Potter series and decided to do some discussion posts about my thoughts on it! There was too much for one post, so I split it into two parts. Part 1 was about general things and the younger/student characters. Part 2 (this post) is about the adults! *Note: I haven't seen the movies, so this is based entirely on the books. I have no idea what differences the movies...

Book Review: Sleight (AVRA-K Book 1) by Jennifer Sommersby

The problem is, Geni doesn't know where her mother hid it, so, along with the help of her father figure and possibly a boy she's just met, she'll have to piece together the clues and find...

Bookish Tag Post: The Book Blogger Memory Challenge Tag

Bookish Tag Post: The Book Blogger Memory Challenge Tag

I just randomly searched the web for book tags one day and found this one at The Book Nut. The original doesn't seem to be around anymore. It seemed like an interesting one since it's different. Here's how it works: You must answer these questions without looking anything up on the internet and without looking at your bookshelves! That's it. Depending on your memory and books you've...

Book Review: Dawn in Damnation (Damnation Book 1) by Clark Casey

Damnation: a little Old West town somewhere between life and Hell where men and women (plus a vampire and some werewolves) who did bad but also did some good get a second chance to make it to Heaven---or at least that's what the residents speculate while they spend their days drinking, playing cards, and having gun fights. But then new people start arriving, a pregnant woman shows up with a...

Bookish Musings: Thoughts on the Harry Potter Series (Part 1)

Bookish Musings: Thoughts on the Harry Potter Series (Part 1)

I recently reread the Harry Potter series and shared a lot of thoughts on Goodreads and Twitter as I was reading, but those were mostly ponderings about how the HP world works, and I wanted to talk about some other things, and talk a little more in-depth, here. Especially since I have a massive book hangover and all I want to do right now is read and/or think about Harry Potter. This isn't a...
