Game Reviews: 3 Quick, Free, Strange Games to Check Out

I did a blog post some time back about quick, free games to make you smile, but this time I have promised strange, and strange I shall deliver.

Sometimes I really love short games that can be played in just a few hours or less (these all took me between a half hour to two hours). And sometimes I really love weird things. So if you’re like me, then I think you’re gonna love these too!

Burning Daylight

Burning Daylight

This was a pretty cool little game, though I’m not sure if “game” is the right word since you don’t actually do much. It’s all about the story and the world. The visuals were great though, and I loved the futuristic cyberpunk/dystopian setting. It creeped me out a bit. The controls for moving the guy around were clunky, at least with a keyboard, but it’s free, so I can’t really complain. It only takes about an hour to get through, and I enjoyed it!

The Good Time Garden

The Good Time Garden

This is, without a doubt, the weirdest and most disturbing game I’ve ever played. And I mean that as a compliment.

The setting is just a bunch of throbbing, lumpy body parts, and the gameplay is finding food and throwing it into your blob friend’s mouth.

I’ll admit I got stuck at one point and thought maybe that was the whole game, but no, you’ll know when it’s the end. Also be sure to check out the controls on the store page before you start.

Anyway, I dug this! What a weird little game. Sometimes weird is exactly what you need. It was a unique 30-minute distraction from life. But it’s definitely NSFW, so just don’t play it in public 😛

I Love You, Colonel Sanders!

I Love You, Colonel Sanders!

I played a Colonel Sanders dating sim, and it was amazing.

(There’s a sentence I never thought I’d say.)

This was so weird and ridiculous that it transcended into amazingness. I cannot overstate how absolutely incredible this game is.

You know how sometimes ridiculous things are just ridiculous instead of funny? Well whoever made this hit that perfect sweet spot.

– Colonel Sanders is hot.
– Your rivals are hot and have outfits way too sexy for cooking.
– Your teacher is a dog.
– One of the students is a kitchen appliance robot.
– The text is hilarious.
– The whole thing is essentially a KFC ad, which somehow only makes it more hilarious.
– There’s romance!
– There’s cooking!
– There’s drama!
– There’s MURDER!

I laughed so much. I say this with complete sincerity: If you do not play this, you are missing out!

I like short games. Most of the games I play are MMO’s, or are just longer, and sometimes it’s nice to just have quick dip into a different world and not have it take forever to finish! And ooh Burning Daylight certainly catches my eye given my love of cyberpunk. I’ll have to scope that one out.

Sometimes you have me worried haha. Seriously, where do you find these games?

You know I love your game reviews, mostly because you find these smaller under the radar games I would probably miss. The art for Burning Daylight looks really good. It may be short (and a little clunky) but I would check it out for the visuals. You’ve made The Good Time Garden sound so weird I have to play. Like, so weird but that’s what makes you want to play. I had actually seen I Love You Colonel Sanders on twitter and it sounded hilarious so glad to hear you played it. I love a good dating sim because it’s just so fun and a little ridiculous.

I was kind of hoping you’d see this in case any of them interested you lol. Burning Daylight really was a cool game visually. Ahhh you should definitely try The Good Time Garden, it’s so weird! You should also try the Colonel Sanders one because it’s just amazing, haha.
