Cover Characteristics: Book Covers featuring Butterflies (2)

I couldn't find anything good for pianos (the official topic this week), and I said however many weeks back that I was going to do a part 2 for butterflies since I had so many extra, so here it is!

I really don't remember what anyone else used in their butterfly post though (hell, I don't even remember what *I* used), so if used any of the same ones, I swear I didn't mean to steal it :-P

At any rate, here are the rest of the butterfly covers I found!

(Btw, isn't that a gorgeous butterfly in the post featured image? We normally think of them as being brightly colored, but I love the dark brown and white so much.)

Cover Characteristics is a weekly meme hosted at Sugar & Snark. This week I went rogue, so my topic is:

Simple but pretty with the dark background, swirly font, and little splashes of color.

Hold & Hide Series by Marilyn Grey

They’ve got interesting designs, and the butterflies really pop.

I like the worn, stampy look and the earthy tones.

Hurricane Butterfly by McChelle Vermeulen

It’s pretty with nice font and colors.

Unbeautiful by Jessica Sorensen

I like how dark it is, and font and picture and title makes it seem like the actual story inside is dark too.

Tarnished by Kate Jarvik Birch

Not actually a butterfly, but definitely meant to look like one. And it’s red, so I couldn’t resist.

Those are just gorgeous looking butterflies.

It’s a nice illustration. I like the sketchy look.

It’s pretty and eye-catching.

My Favorite:

I don’t know, I just love how stark this one is with the pure black and white, but it’s also so interesting with the face.

Butterflies are better than pianos. I should have changed topic too. Good call. So what do ya got? Let’s see… The Butterfly Code is my favorite firstly. No idea what it’s about, but I like the creepish nature of it. Then it would be Unbeautiful and Hurricane Butterfly.

Unbeautiful is just dark, and Hurricane Butterfly… I just like. The blue works for me. so yeah. 🙂

Yeah, pianos just wasn’t for me. Actually, I don’t know what The Butterfly Code is about either, but I downloaded one day when it was free, so I remember it was at least something that interested me lol. Something sci-fi/fantasy. Unbeautiful does look dark which is totally my kind of book too. And blue covers do seem to most often be the best. I’ve noticed that lol.

I *think* I can picture one book cover with a piano on it…but I could be wrong since I can’t envision the title. 😉 These are all so pretty. I like Sorenson’s and Vincent’s, but I also really like the monochrome of Hurricane Butterfly. Great picks, Kristen…much better than pianos! 😉

So you see why I didn’t stick to the original topic. Even your mystery cover that you’re not sure of is more than I had lol. Glad you like my choices 🙂

The brown and white butterfly in the post header is pretty, although I also like the ones with the weird colours. I actually have read one of these books, namely The Stars Never Rise and I am still not sure why there’s a butterfly on the cover, but it is pretty! It’s probably my favourite of these. I like the covers for the Hold and Hide series and how they form one picture when next to each other.

I guess all butterflies are pretty, but I really like dark brown. I haven’t read The Stars Never Rise, but don’t you kind of hate that when the cover or title of a book doesn’t actually make sense with the story? Lol. I actually didn’t notice that the Hold and Hide covers would match up like that until I put them together, but I agree that it looks really cool!
