Cover Characteristics: Book Covers featuring Kissing

"Is this a kissing book?"

Yes, child from The Princess Bride movie whose name I don't actually know, these are totally kissing books. Maybe. Actually I have no clue, but they do have kissing on the covers!

The thing about book covers with kissing is, I don't have anything against them, I just don't tend to like the style of covers that feature this particular topic. Or rather, books with people kissing don't tend to be done in the style of cover that I like best. And I like to try and stick to fantasy and sci-fi books if possible since that's what I read and therefore those are usually the covers that appeal to me. So there are lots of covers out there, just not ones that I wanted to use :-P

However, as usual, I managed to find some good ones, almost entirely from my kindle and TBR which always makes me happy for some reason (maybe because it means I have lots of books with pretty covers in my future)!

Cover Characteristics is a weekly meme hosted at Sugar & Snark. This week’s topic is:

Pin the Collage!

Honestly it’s not the most amazing cover I’ve ever seen, but it’s cute and eye-catching and perfect for a fairy tale retelling.

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Also not the most amazing cover, and I know the series has other covers that are actually really gorgeous, but this was the only one with kissing, and it’s still pretty.

Inconceivable by Tegan Wren

Before you get excited, this book has nothing to do with The Princess Bride. But the cover is so pretty!

Catch Me When I Fall by Vicki Leigh

I like the creepy looking black hands around them.

The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore

As weird as this may sound, I actually don’t like that they chose this color of beige-ish for the background, but I do love the red and black and the overall design.

Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch

I have a Dan dos Santos cover on my list and I didn’t choose it as my favorite?! Is the world coming to an end?! I love this cover, I really do. It’s got so much detail, even in the background, and is just a gorgeous piece of artwork. I almost chose it as my favorite, but I just happened to like another cover a little tiny bit better.

The gold and black just really works, and I love the font.

Transformation by X. Aratare

All the covers in his series are pretty (though this is the only one that fits the topic). And they’re floating underwater, so their hair is swooshing all over the place which is always fun 😛

Before Beauty by Brittany Fichter

Ok so they’re not actually kissing, but they look like they probably will in a moment, right? Whatever. This cover is beautiful (I mean, look at all the blue and the flowers and the details!), so I’m sticking to my theory.

My Favorite:
Master of Crows by Grave Draven

It’s so preeeeety, and there’s so much red and black, and everything is flowing in the wind, and you can’t even tell where one ends and the other begins, and their hands are entwined in each others’ hair, and that long, black hair alone is just glorious… *sigh* I love all the covers for this series even though I haven’t read it.

Plus One Bonus…

The Princess Bride | movies, kissing

This is a DVD cover so I couldn’t include it above, but the book cover isn’t as good, and it doesn’t have them almost kissing. And this gorgeous! Plus I quoted it. So I had to share it in the post 🙂

    I LOVE The Princess Bride!

And I totally just added Master of Crows to my TBR because of the cover. I am easily seduced by pretty covers, it seems.

It’s such a great movie and a great book!

Don’t worry, I also have Master of Crows on my TBR because of the cover. I’m definitely easily seduced by pretty covers lol.

Princess Bride quote! Way to set the tone. 🙂 And yes these are kissing books kid ha ha. City of Lost Souls is pretty good, and lol about Inconceivable. I can hear that in my head and probably would every time I saw that cover. I like Before Beauty but Master of crows is definitely my favorite- agree w/ you there. I do like the blowing hair and the background and all that. That one would jump off the shelf I would think.

Nice bonus! Some DVD covers should totally be allowed on our lists ha ha. I’ll probably have Princess Bride quotes floating around in my brain now… 🙂

Haha it was just what I immediately thought of. I was actually quite disappointed that Inconceivable had nothing to do with The Princess Bride lol, but it’s still pretty. But GAH Master of Crows is just so amazing! Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. Enjoy all those quotes I inadvertently put into your head 😛 “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

Master of Crows is my favorite one on your list, Kristen. It’s lovely. 🙂 I also have Shadows of Asphodel waiting for me to make time for it. (I know you’re shocked!) I also really want to read Touched by an Alien…I’ve heard great things about it but for some reason, haven’t made the time to read it. Catch Me When I Fall caught my eye…that one will probably be going on my tbr. And since it’s apparently about dream catchers, it made me think about a series I wonder if you’ve read…the Dream Catcher series by Lisa McMann? I read it (it’s a trilogy) years ago but loved it. Anyway, great post, as usual, even if kissing covers don’t really do it for you. 😀

One of these days we’re finally gonna end up reading some of the same books lol. I have books you’ve read on my TBR, you’ve got books I’ve read, we have some on both are TBRs. Then we’ll actually be able to discuss them! Lol.

I have not read that series, but I’ll look it up! And it kinda makes me happy that everyone is choosing the same favorite cover as me this week 😛
