Review:
This was another well-written and enjoyable paranormal romance in the Mismatched Mates series!
This one was a little lower on the emotional scale, but it still had some fun angst. What with Arik being so alone and then starting to feel something, a taste of what it was like to have someone care about him, but thinking it was only because of the love spell he’d put on Matthew. And Matthew having these feelings for Arik but thinking Arik just wanted to get away from him. Something like characters falling in love because of a spell can be tricky to successfully pull off—because how can you be sure the character’s feelings are real in the end?—but it worked here, and I believed it. They turned out to be cute together, and Matthew was very sweet and respectful about Arik’s traumas and quirks.
There was also some sex, some action, some pack goings-on, some magic, the usual. The story was mostly about the romance though.
I’ve said before that the audiobook narration by Chris Chambers is not my favorite, but it’s not bad. It’s just kind of dramatically exaggerated. But he does voices different enough to tell characters apart, and he’s good at bringing emotion where necessary.
Overall, this was an enjoyable romance to sink into!
Trigger/Content Warnings: Multiple mentions of rape. Threats of rape from a side character.
*Even though each book in this series focuses on different characters, I recommend reading at least the first two in order, or you might be lost in regards to some plot elements and character/relationship backgrounds.*

Not sure I would like this one.
That’s fair!
Awesome cover for starters. I like the idea too of not knowing where the spell leaves off and real feelings begin lol.
Yeah the author did a good job with the spell thing!
I’m glad you could end up believing in the relationship. I often have trouble when it’s spurred by fate or spell kind of things. Sometimes it works though,
