What a great end to a great series! All the things I loved about the first book were present in the other three, but each book got more intense and action-packed as the series went on.

In each book, but especially this one, the characters became even more likeable and had great relationships with each other, the plot kept me on edge, and the twists and turns took me by surprise but completely made sense once I had all the puzzle pieces. Then there’s the writing itself. The description and detail was beautiful, but never too much. I’m usually not a fan of over-describing settings, but…

“The four-poster bed at the center struck me as larger than life, a piece of furniture of inhuman standards with red silk sheets and a velvet comforter. Clearly, the bed was meant to be the centerpiece of the room, but that was hardly the most impressive feature The two-story walls were lined with books, old and new, with a sliding brass ladder attached to the shelves to ensure each of them was accessible. Along one wall, a break in the shelving allowed for a fireplace where a lively fire crackled and popped. Two oversized red velvet chairs hugged its warmth. I took one look at their plush cushions and curved backs and sagged with exhaustion.”

#&^@$%*! How can you not want that?! Pure perfection, of both the words and the room.

*MILD SPOILER ALERT* I also just have to say I love that Rick took Grateful’s last name (and that she was the one who originally proposed to him in her first life). It’s fitting after all the times I’ve raved about how strong-minded Grateful is. *END MILD SPOILER ALERT*

With this book, Grateful and Rick’s story has come to an end, and I’m glad I went along for the ride!
