Review:
*I received a free ecopy of this short story from the author in exchange for an honest review.*
I never read short stories unless they’re part of a series, and even then I usually read them after reading the books. See, the thing about me is, I don’t connect to characters quickly. It often takes me literally an entire book or two.
But this story had me, within pages, laughing out loud, feeling for the characters, and already falling in love with them. Seriously, by the time I finished, I was so excited that I would get to read a whole full-length book about them because I was already sure I was going to love it—and I did, but that’s a different review 😉
Anyway, this isn’t necessary to understand the book, but if you’re considering reading Triad Blood, this is a perfect little taste of the characters and writing, and if you’ve already read the book, this is a fun, sexy short about the characters you surely already love!

I guess I am the exception, but I usually like short stories and read quite some of them. I have read short stories that are part of a series or not. Although I do read mostly short stories that are part of a series and a few series that are made of entirely of short stories.
My biggest issue with short stories is usually that they can get a bit rushed and I dislike it when that happens, luckily there are also a lot of authors who can write short stories right without them feeling rushed. And I understand what you mean about the characters, it’s also a bit harder for me to get a feel for the characters in short stories, unless they are part of a series ofcourse and I already know the characters.
It’s great when a short story like this one can give you a feel for the series and make you excited for it. And wow a 5 star rating for a short story, that’s definitely rare. Sounds like this one was very well done! Will check out your review of Trial Blood next!
Honestly, I have no idea which one of us is the exception here lol. I don’t know if other people like short stories or not, but I know there are plenty of anthologies out there, so there must be readers for them. I can see how they can feel rushed if they’re not done right though.
I don’t really know what my criteria for rating short stories is, but I know it’s different than full books lol. This one made me seriously excited for the book and the characters though, so I figured it deserved 5 stars 🙂
It doesn’t sound like this one is for me, but I’m glad you liked it! I’m not a big short stories/prequel/novella fan myself. Only rarely will be into those.
I only read this one because I was about to read the book and wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything important, but then I ended up loving it 🙂 But I do enjoy shorts/novellas/etc. when they’re part of a series I love because I’ll take every little bit of the characters that I can get lol.
I feel the same way about short stories, Kristen, so if this one had you that excited to read the full length novel about these characters, then it *must* be something. 🙂 And you’re now responsible for my having spent $1. 😉 *hahahaha*
Oh no, but how will I live with myself knowing that you spent a whole dollar on it if you don’t like it?! 😉 To be fair though, I am pretty picky with my dollars lol. But I did get really excited, and I think you’ll really like Triad Blood if you like what you see of the characters in the short!
