Update: Life and Books (Apr 2024)

Well, I’m back to having no real news to share this month. But that’s not a bad thing. It’s better than having bad news. I just spent another month using my free time to play Baldur’s Gate 3. I really can’t express how great this game is and how much I love it. I have now played five times (with a different romance and class each time), but I still don’t want to stop. Anyway, here are some posts and pics from my latest run! Some of the highlights were letting Abdirak hit me with his mace, accessorizing Astarion, and raising an army of dead. Also just making my character into my dream emo guy (using quite a few mods) whom I quite enjoyed looking at lol.

To be serious for a moment, I know I’ve done a terrible job of visiting other blogs, but I haven’t been doing very well mentally because things have been getting harder and my health might take a dive physically in a few months. I just wanna play this game I love and distract myself, and sometimes I just don’t feel up to chatting. And yes, I’ve been talking about struggling for a while now, but that doesn’t make it any less true. So I’m not trying to be rude or ignore anyone, please don’t take it personal if I haven’t visited or responded to your comments. I still appreciate comments, and I’m still around on Twitter/X if we’re mutuals and you have a cool thing you wanna DM me or something, even if I haven’t been actually scrolling or posting much <3

Blog/Bookish Updates:

Nothing this month.

Books I Received for Review:

The Sins On Their Bones by Laura R. Samotin

I got an audiobook copy of The Sins On Their Bones by Laura R. Samotin, from Libro.fm ALC program. Was so excited to see this one available!

Books I Finished:

Us, Et Cetera by Kit VincentBad Romance by E.M Jeanmougin & Jay WrightResurrection Reprise by Hailey TurnerThe Mars House by Natasha PulleyA Botanical Daughter by Noah Medlock

If you’re considering buying any of these books from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!

This was a month of ups and downs, but I found two more 4.5 star books!

Us, Et Cetera by Kit Vincent – I was frustrated by how poorly thought-out some things were and how much this wasn’t about the promised AI romance, or AI at all. I posted a review on Goodreads.

✨ Bad Romance by E.M Jeanmougin & Jay Wright – A great book about a side character in one of my favorite series! Also happily surprised to learn he’s nonbinary.

Resurrection Reprise by Hailey Turner – Another great book about a side character from a series I enjoyed. And very sexy vampire biting!

✨ The Mars House by Natasha Pulley – I loved this and was so drawn in! It was slow-paced, but the characters and story were so interesting.

A Botanical Daughter by Noah Medlock – Not for me. I just never really understood what the characters were feeling, why they were doing things. I felt distanced. Neat Frankenstein-esque idea though.

That’s great you’re still having so much fun with Baldur’s Gate, it sounds like one of those games you can replay a lot with all the variety in classes, decisions and romance options. I might give it a try one day, but it’s so pricey that has put me off for now. I played mostly Exocolonist this month as you could probably tell from my comment on your review. I’ll try and message you on Twitter or email later today so we can talk more, good to know that’s something you’re happy to do :). I have so many thoughts about the game.

I feel so bad you’re still struggling so much with your health both physical and mentally. It’s so tough to do anything when you’re not feeling well. I just hope things will get a bit better for you. I can definitely relate to just wanting to play games and read books when you’re not feeling well. I hope May is a better month for you!

I find new things every time I play. There are just so many choices and dialogue and voice lines and things to see. I was hesitant about the price, but my first playthrough took 150 hours, so that alone would’ve been my money’s worth!

      Thanks <3

That game looks very life-like! and I’m glad you found something that does a good job with distracting you from physical pain and/or bad thoughts. I’m sure everyone knows that you’re not ignoring us or anything. I don’t know why you’re anticipating a nosedive, but I hope you’re wrong! Hang on…💙

I guess what they say is true – no news is good news lol Sometimes that’s good enough.

I know you have a lot to deal with so go take the fun and happiness where you can. We all get that. I can’t say I’m around much anymore either.
