I don’t even know what I did this month. I played a couple games, which I’ll mention below, but other than that, just survived, I guess? Honestly, I’m tired. I’m tired in every sense of the word. But anyway…
Those games I said I’d mention! I played two pretty short visual novels (like six hours or less to complete). ScreamCap is about a paranormal investigation team, and though the story confused me the first time, it’s interesting with cool characters. First Bite is a sexy vampire game I have wanted for a while now, and it didn’t disappoint! Very fun, and both art and vampires were gorgeous. I also finished one playthrough of Strange Horticulture, a pretty, plant-filled game with some narrative element, some choices, and some puzzles, but overall really chill. And last but not least, I’ve been playing Townscaper, a simple but cute sandbox town-building game.
I'm not sure exactly what I've created, some sort of compound in the middle of the ocean, but it's pretty and I liked it. #Townscaper pic.twitter.com/mKZlbXR4te

I’ve started playing a bunch more daily Heardles too (like Wordle, but music), for specific artists/bands. Emo Heardle, MCR, FOB, Halsey, to name a few. I’ve realized I only actually know a handful of songs or one album from most artists, so my odds aren’t good, but when it is one of those few songs I know, I feel so victorious. It’s also reminding me of a bunch of artists I hadn’t listened to in a long time, and I’ve been re-listening to some albums. Currently listening to Yellowcard’s Ocean Avenue album as I type this!
I also made some art! Just a random, spontaneous piece. It’s meant to be the same demon guy in three poses, but then I thought, how funny would it be if I were like, “Plot twist, it’s actually triplets!” And then I thought, not triplets, but what if same demon, split into three??
That’s about it for me for June. Everyone, just, take care of yourself and others. The world is a mess.
Blog/Bookish Updates:
Nothing.
Books I Received for Review:
Vaengr by Marishka Grayson, from BookSirens. Blooded by Nat Kennedy.
Books I Finished:
If you’re considering buying one of the books below from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!
The Fae Keeper by H.E. Edgmon – A great ending to a queer YA duology that got darker than the first.
Vaengr by Marishka Grayson – Another duology ending, with characters that sort of confused me but some really unique sci-fi/fantasy ideas.
So This is Ever After by F.T. Lukens – A cute, if a bit stretched on believability, queer YA story of what happens after defeating the villain.
Like Silk Breathing by Camille Duplessis – An enjoyable m/m historical fantasy about an empath and a selkie, though the romance could’ve been a bit stronger.
The ABCs of Spellcraft Vol. 3 by Jordan Castillo Price – Another fun set of stories in a series I can always count on to be a lovely distraction from the stress of real life, and the relationship between these two is adorable.
The Wolf Among the Wild Hunt by Merc Fenn Wolfmoor – A quick high fantasy story with an interesting mix of a werewolf-like creature, the Wild Hunt, aro-ace main characters, and friendship (or maybe a queerplatonic relationship).
Page of Tricks by A.K. Faulkner – Another great book in this m/m UF series, and this one really upped the tension!
Day Boy by Trent Jamieson – A high fantasy take on vampires and a coming of age story about a young man raised by one.
Blooded by Nat Kennedy – I loved this! Great, developed characters, great story, great m/m romance, and especially great sexy vampire biting!
Highlights on the Blog:
– I reviewed The Fae Keeper by H.E. Edgmon, a YA fantasy duology finale that upped the intensity.
– I talked about why spoilers can be a good thing.
– I reviewed The Sexy Brutale, a really cool, detail-filled, time-loop mystery-solving game set in an eccentric marquis’s mansion.
– I recommended ten SFF books to make you laugh.
You find the best games! All of those sound fun. I love that screenshot though- the ocean compound is cool. I’d love to explore/ live on a place like that…
Gonna have to check these out…
There’s been a huge sale going on, couldn’t resist buying a few! Thanks, I like my little ocean compound too! Townscaper is so chill.
I might need that game, I’d love to design an ocean compound like that! I saw one of your tweets yesterday too, with the vampire compound lit up after dark. That was awesome!
Yeah I’ve been having fun lol. I think you might like it!
I was already up-to-date with your latest shenanigans, but I want to say that it’s great that all those games exist and you can find solace (ot at least a brief respite) while playing them. Your demon/s is/are so cute (in a hellish way of course 😈😂), and I love the little detail of her/their having a broken horn – also, the whole composition is top-notch.
You know I’m not into fantasy and romance, but all those books seem to have great premises and lots of diversity, so I hope they find an audience!
Games are the best distraction for me, when I’m able to play them. Definitely have been needing that. Thank you!
Some of them were great, so hopefully more people will find them!
I definitely have those months where I have to think really hard about what we actually did! Sometimes it’s nice to have a low-key month, but I hope July brings you more energy!
Sometimes when you don’t do much, it’s even harder to remember what you actually did. Thanks!
I’m not a gamer but I’m glad you found some good ones. I rarely read paranormal anymore unless it’s by one of my favorite writers in that genre. Dannika Dark, Dianne Duvall, Jeaniene Frost, Amber Lynn Nataush, J.R. Ward come to mind although there are others. Do you read any of them?
Thanks 🙂 I haven’t read any of them, no, but I’ve heard of most! I think there might be a Jeanine Frost series I had wanted to try.
Probably Night Huntress series. It’s really good. My all time favorite is Dannika Dark-any genre. She tells such good stories. Mageri is my favorite series by her but I also love her other 3 as well.
I looked it up, and it’s the Once Burned book or series, which I see is a spin-off of the Night Huntress one lol. I’ll look up Mageri!
I know what you mean about being tired. I like the demon drawings.
Thanks 🙂
Have you seen that The Sims 4 has werewolves now? I’m so excited! I have to wait until it goes on sale. I hope you’re having a great July!
I saw! I’m not going to buy it, but I’d love if I could just try it for a few days. I might watch some Let’s Plays or something. Same to you!
I love Townscaper! Your little island compound looks great! All the stuff I make ends up a bit all over the place, but it’s very relaxing making it.
Thank you! I’ve been watching videos, and some people are so good at it and make the most incredible builds! Idk how they do it. But it is such a relaxing game, no matter how you play it.
I just finished reading A Door into Evermoor by Kent Wayne. It was really good. I have decided to try to finish reading the martial arts fantasy book series I have been putting off reading. It’s by Kylie Chan. I am still diamond painting. I am working on my boyfriend’s birthday/Christmas gift. His birthday is on Christmas day. Once I finish it, I will work on my best friend’s Christmas gift. Also I have been learning Chinese. I had to learn for a survey for seven days, but I kept learning because I have been wanting to learn it. It’s hard.
Glad you found a good book! I had to look up diamond painting. That sounds like a lot of work, but like it’ll look really pretty in the end! You’re so ahead on Christmas gifts, that’s smart. I do much gift exchanging anymore, but I was that person who sometimes waited until Christmas Eve and then panicked lol. It’s nice when something like that survey gives you the push you need for something you’ve been wanting to do.
