We did it! We voted Trump out! I know I’m a little late with that celebration, but I couldn’t not share my excitement. It’s just such a relief to know we won’t be subjected to the catastrophe that four more years of him would’ve been.
In other, less significant news (but still significant to me)…
I cut my hair! (Literally cut it myself!) And I’m excited about it! It’s a big deal for me since I’ve pretty much always had medium-long to LONG hair. I’ve never had it shorter than shoulder length since I was like seven years old. I’m most likely going to cut the top shorter because half the reason for doing this was to make my hair easier to deal with, but this is it for right now because I couldn’t figure out exactly what to do with the top yet. I’m super happy with it 🙂 It’s also SO much easier to wash! And I love just running my hands over the shaved parts.

I rewatched S1-3 and finally watched S4 (the final season) of Eastsiders, and it was amazing! I’ll admit the first season is a little rough, but the quality of everything really increases in S2 and only keeps getting better. I highly recommend this series (it’s on Netflix right now). It’s a hidden gem.
Everyone's upset about a certain TV series right now. Meanwhile, I've been rewatching S1-3 and finally watching S4 of Eastsiders on Netflix, a show where everyone is gay and no one dies, and the finale was the most satisfying thing I could've imagined. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

I played some more visual novels. Red Embrace, Blind Men, and Cute Demon Crashers were all fairly quick (2-6 hours each) but super cute and fun! I loved them all. They all had a lot of nice art too. And Cute Demon Crashers is free! I’ll review them all soon.
I also found the song “Air Catcher” by Twenty One Pilots, and I love it.
It’s December now, but I haven’t felt the Christmas spirit for a long time, and my family won’t be getting together this year because of the pandemic. I have no special holiday plans other than watching some Christmas movies on Netflix, just for something chill to do. If you have recs, even from previous years, let me know! I already watched The Holidate and thought it was cute.
Blog/Bookish Updates:
I’m not really planning on doing anything special on my blog for the holidays, other than a few reviews for Christmas books. Don’t worry, they’re vampire Christmas books 😉 And of course I’ll do my yearly favorite books/characters/covers posts!
I’ve opened up review requests again, so if any authors are interested and reading this, check out my review policy for all the info 🙂 I might end up changing my mind in a few weeks, so best get those emails sent lol.
I’m sorry that I haven’t visited blogs lately and am behind on responding to comments. I’ve been going through one of those weeks (or two) when every little thing just keeps going wrong, and I have so much to do, and I’m so exhausted I can barely think, and my whole body hurts. Please forgive me 😣🥺
Books I Received for Review:
I requested a book on NetGalley for the first time in like a year! Leather and Lace by Magen Cubed.
Books I Finished:
The Magicians was not the urban fantasy I was expecting, but that’s on me. It had some interesting characters, but I couldn’t really get into it.
I’ve already reviewed A Little Familiar, it was a soft, sweet romance.
I’ve also reviewed The Son of Darkness, a satisfying finale to a great paranormal romance / urban fantasy series.
I didn’t read all of Romeo and/or Juliet, but what I did read was so much fun!
The Mercenaries of the Stolen Moon wasn’t my favorite in the series, but it was a comforting kind of read nonetheless.
Harrow the Ninth was… different? It was good! I just feel like normal words can’t describe it. It’s fun pondering theories.
Ambrosia was a fantasy comic anthology with trans masc and nonbinary characters, and there were a few stories I especially liked.
I finally read The Empire of Gold and have some mixed feelings, but overall it was another great finale to a wonderful series.
I like that A Vampire’s Christmas Carol was a vampire Christmas book, since there aren’t a ton of those, but it wasn’t really for me.
In Case You Missed It:
Here are the highlights:
– I shared a gymnastic poem I wrote that someone tried to steal(!) and that’s made me a famous anonymous poet!
– I recommended 3 quick, free, strange games I enjoyed (including a Colonel Sanders dating sim)!
– I reviewed a bunch of great m/m paranormal romance and urban fantasy books here, and here, and also here!
Congrats on the hair! And haha yes there is something about shaved hair- I remember getting mine cut super short in the back once and i loved how fuzzy it was lol. Same here with Christmas- our big family get- together is canceled thanks to Covid, so it’ll be quiet this year.
Vampire Christmas carol looks fun, sorry to hear it wasn’t awesome.
Thanks! The fuzziness is so fun to touch lol. Yeah, it’s gonna be a quiet year for a lot of people this Christmas.
I love your hair! That style suits you so well. I imagine it must have been daunting to make the first snips?
Thanks! I started by just chopping off big pieces to make it easier to use the clippers, and I had a moment of panic when I first started chopping, but it was too late to turn back lol. I loved it by the time I finished though!
So happy to see the back of Trump and I don’t even live in the US. Love the new hair! It really suits you. I’m having a quiet Christmas this year too, but I’m looking forward to it in a way as it’s normally very full on.
I’m looking forward to your vampire Christmas book reviews.
You know it’s bad when even people in other countries are glad to see your president gone lol. Thank you!! I hope you have a nice quiet Christmas 🙂
You are braver than I am. I always wanted long straight hair and ended up with natural curl that I can’t wear long. I’m way too old for that hairstyle but at your age it’s perfect and in style. I was so happy with the election. as well.
It took me literal years to work up the courage, haha. Thank you!
“It’s December now, but I haven’t felt the Christmas spirit for a long time”.
I hear you…
“I’m not really planning on doing anything special on my blog for the holidays, other than a few reviews for Christmas books. Don’t worry, they’re vampire Christmas books ;-)”
LOL. I didn’t even know they existed!
“every little thing just keeps going wrong, and I have so much to do, and I’m so exhausted I can barely think, and my whole body hurts. Please forgive me 😣🥺”
Aw, we most certainly do!
I’m on wages guarantee fund again this month – but since I get paid on the 10th, I will get full wages in view of Christmas. Not that I have to buy presents or anything. It’s never been a tradition with my immediate family…unless you count my parents giving me extra money because I’m forever broke. As for friends…what are those?
Christmas books exist for every genre! Just gotta find ’em 😉
I feel you. At least you’re getting paid, that’s good whether it’s Christmas or not!
LOVE the new hair!! I wish I was brave enough to do something that cool to mine.
Thank you! It took me years to work up the courage lol.
My hair has always been really long. I like what you did. I’ve never cut mine short.
Thanks! Until a few years ago, I never imagined I’d cut mine short, and even when I wanted to, I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to actually do it lol.
So happy the election is over…kind of. I’m waiting for January.
I was trying to decide if I wanted to be festive this December on the blog as well but I think I’ll just focus my energy on figuring out what I want to do in 2021.
Oh dang, I need to focus on figuring out what to do in 2021 too! I know I want to change some things with my blog but haven’t figured out exactly what I wanna do yet.
Well, it certainly is a relief that we won’t have that impeached POTUS in the WH for another four years. I just hope we can get control of the Senate to get things done – most importantly, to reverse all the damage that’s been done over the past four years!
Definitely. But yeah, it’s still going to be an uphill battle.
I know I said it when you put the pictures on twitter but your hair really does look amazing. It’s always nice to do something different so I’m glad you’re liking it. I hadn’t heard that Twenty One Pilots song before but now I’m adding it to my current listen list which is essentially just Taylor Swift on repeat. I’m keeping my December lowkey, Christmas won’t be the same but I’ve exchanged presents with friends.
Thank you! I admittedly felt some panic when I first started chopping and shaving, haha, but then I ended up loving it. Yay, I’m glad someone else likes the song! Christmas is definitely going to be different this year for a lot of people.
Love the hair Kit! It’s fabulous. If it took Trump this long to be defeated then I think you can be forgiven for not celebrating until now. 😉
Hope you have a lovely festive season. Looking forward to reading your vampire Christmas book reviews.
Thank you! Hope you’re having a good holiday season too 🙂
