Update: Life and Books (Nov 2023)

November. Another month gone by in which I’ve mostly just played games (well, mostly one game) when I felt up to doing things with my brain (and my body, sometimes even moving my hand takes too much energy). I got back into Sun Haven after taking a few month’s break! They’ve had two big updates since I last played, and I’ve been having a lot of fun again. They made my favorite NPC romanceable! I’ve been wanting to date him for a long time, so I was very happy about that. He’s so goofy and sweet, and nocturnal like me! He’s a moon elf. Everyone look at my husband.

Screenshot from Sun Haven of Lucius, a sexy blue elf, saying, 'Oh, Kit, my starlight. The actual stars of the Everbeyond themselves will seem like dim specks in the sky compared to you and your own... glowy, shiny, starry-ness.'

Also I sell art prints now! Here’s my Inprnt shop where you can buy these two little guys, if you’re interested 🙂

Drawing of a slender figure with a flower head standing on one foot in a dramatic dancing pose with a splashy beige watercolor background.
Drawing of a little winged pixie guy hanging from a branch, holding a flower as big as himself in his hand, with a splashy beige watercolor background.

Anyway, that’s all my news, or at least all I feel like talking about. Things are just hard. Chronically ill without a good support system, stuck in a raging deadly/disabling pandemic, not even safe in my own home. Having computer troubles. And I don’t want to take away other people’s holiday joy, but holidays tend to just complicate my life more now. So I haven’t done a lot of Twitter scrolling or blog hopping or even reading, some things are just harder to focus on, but I’m still here, still chugging along.

Blog/Bookish Updates:

In trying to fix the blog problems I was having before, I blocked a bunch of IPs leaving spam comments, and I’ve gotten my spam folder down from like 4000 to 40, so that’s cool, I guess.

Books I Received for Review:

Born of Scourge by S. Jean

I got Born of Scourge by S. Jean, from the author. (They made their own cover too, so gorgeous!)

Books I Finished:

I’m tired and don’t feel like saving and resizing and uploading book covers today, sorry.

If you’re considering buying one of the books below from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!

11:59 by C.S. Poe – A short story with some monster killing and some m/m romance.

Vassal // Goddess // Shepherd of Souls // Death Seeker by Liv Savell & Sterling D’Este – Two connected duologies, both high fantasy and queer (one f/f, one m/f and m/m). These authors can write good characters who are flawed yet still ones I root for, and they all feel unique! But head hopping always makes it hard for me to sink into books. Also a weirdly unresolved ending, and I don’t love that I had to email to get the epilogue and that it’s in PDF form. But I’ll get to it soon, I want to know how things actually turn out.

Talk to me!

Have you found any good books, games, etc. lately?

Ohh never heard of Sun Haven but it looks great! I’m happy for you, they got your favorite character romanceable!
    Also, your art looks great!

And, holidays are not there yet, you may still call tech people and let them do their job 😛
If they love what they’re doing, they’ll do it happily for you!

    “Everyone look at my husband.”
    Hello, husband! And a sweet-talker, too 😉.

Spam going from 4000 to 40 sounds like a win…yikes.

I’m sorry you’ve been even more down than usual, but I get it – not to mention, the festive period is harder on everyone who doesn’t have enough health, or money, or good things in their life…it feels more lonely, doesn’t it? in the middle of all the people celebrating or going on shopping sprees. I hope you make out of the holidays unscathed…
