Mini Reviews: Paranormal Christmas Romance – Snowed in with Santa, All I Want for Christmas is a Faerie Assassin, Krampus Hates Christmas

In Snowed in with Santa, a single mom takes a temporary job working at a resort over the holidays only to find herself falling for a hunky Santa. In All I Want for Christmas is a Faerie Assassin, a woman accidentally summons a faerie assassin to be her fake boyfriend over the holidays. In Krampus Hates Christmas, Krampus is sent to live among humans and learns that Christmas can be nice with the right person. I’ve been on a Christmas romance binge this month, and I really liked all three of these, especially the last! I know some of these aren’t so mini, but I wanted to get these reviews in before the year ended and didn’t have enough time in the schedule to do separate posts. Enjoy my mini reviews for these three paranormal Christmas romances!

*One of the covers looks different than in the graphic above because the book got a new cover after I made this post.*

This was a cute Christmas romance! And a super Christmas-y one. How could it not be when it's a romance with a sexy, flirty, playful, punny Santa! It bothered me some when the main character thought to herself that she sometimes regrets having had a kid, but that might've been momentary frustration rather than genuine feelings since it never came up again, and other than that, I found her to be a character who was imperfect but not bad, and one still growing and finding herself in her late thirties, which was nice to see. There was also a bit of plot to go with the romance and lots of Christmas puns, but no explicit sex scenes. Overall a fun, quick holiday read!

Review:

This was fun! It was a fun premise---summoning a faerie to be your fake boyfriend for the holidays, not expecting it to work---and accidentally ending up with an assassin. It was a bit silly, but never too silly.

I didn't quite believe Charlotte and Bain were in love after barely knowing each other for a week, but I believed some sort of feelings, and they were cute. And I liked that, though they did have (not explicit) sex, that wasn't the focus of their feelings.

Charlotte was just a relatable twenty-something woman with bad luck in dating, some insecurities but nothing too extreme, and a lowkey sort of life. Bain was a bit of an asshole, but in a fun enough way that he was still likeable. You kind of just have to overlook that he's an assassin. *shrug*

This is such a small thing, but I loved that Bain wore some makeup to a party because he didn't feel like himself without some glitter. I've never seen a man wear makeup in a m/f romance before! He's a faerie, not a human, but he was in the human realm at the time, and it still made me happy.

Overall, this was a fun Christmas romance!

Trigger/Content Warning: A joke about suicide.

This was so cute!

I loved that these two took things slow rather than quickly jumping into sex and love. They were attracted right away, but they went on dates and spent time together and got to know each other for a couple months before taking any big steps, before sleeping together (which wasn't explicit, just mentioned), before professing love. And they were so gosh darn cute, being all shy, using pet names, cuddling on the couch... *sighs contentedly*

I also liked that Lewis (the human) was 43 and didn't have a perfect, ripped body, and that Karl (Krampus) liked his fur and hooves and horns and just wanted Lewis to accept him as he was, rather than wanting to be human.

I loved how sweet their feelings and relationship were. I loved how sweet the individual characters were, including Karl who was actually a big, loving teddy bear rather than the scary beast he looked to be. I loved how sweet everything was.

This was such a cute Christmas romance that made me smile so much!

Anyone who likes Christmas books, m/m romance that takes it slow, a sweetheart Krampus, characters in their 40s, and lots of cuteness.

I might have missed something. What is Krampus? I know he’s some kind of animal but don’t know what? This one sounds really cute. I like that they are older and not perfect for a change. The others sound pretty good as well.

Krampus is a Christmas myth, like Santa, except he punishes the bad kids or takes their toys, something like that. And he has horns and whatnot, humanoid, but not human. I think it’s a more prevalent myth in certain countries, or maybe it used to be. But anyway, yeah, it was really cute! I really liked it!

This is probably the most creative premise I’ve ever seen LOL. And he wears make up? Who cares about the killer part? 😂
