Bookish Tag Post: The Book Blogger Memory Challenge Tag

I just randomly searched the web for book tags one day and found this one at The Book Nut. The original doesn’t seem to be around anymore. It seemed like an interesting one since it’s different. Here’s how it works:

You must answer these questions without looking anything up on the internet and without looking at your bookshelves!

That’s it. Depending on your memory and books you’ve read/seen, it might be harder than it sounds πŸ˜‰ So here are my answers—no cheating, I promise! And if you want to do this too, just consider yourself tagged!

1. Name a book written by an author called Michael.

Graveyard Shift by Michael F. Haspil

Graveyard Shift by Michael F. Haspil. This was a great book, and I loved that it had a mummy main character.

2. Name a book with a dragon on the cover.

Unleash the Storm by Annette Marie

Unleash the Storm by Annette Marie. This is an amazing urban fantasy series!

3. Name a book about a character called George.

Chester 5000 XYV: Isabelle & George by Jess Fink. His name is right in the title! And I <3 this book. It gave me all the feels.

4. Name a book written by an author with the surname Smith.

Slowly We Rot by Bryan Smith

Slowly We Rot by Bryan Smith. This happens to be one of my favorites as well! Definitely not your typical zombie book.

5. Name a book set in Australia.

Beckoning Blood by Daniel de Lorne

Beckoning Blood by Daniel de Lorne. Not the whole book, but part of this book takes place in Australia, and it’s another one of my favorites.

6. Name a book with the name of a month in the title.

Mother May I by Genevieve Jack

Mother May I by Genevieve Jack. The word ‘May’ is not being used as a month in this title, but it was all I could think of!

7. Name a book with a knife on the cover.

The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff

The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff. Oh my gosh, this was hard. It was hard to think of a cover period, and then I remembered this one but couldn’t remember the damn title lol. It took me a bit of thinking. This is the only one on the list that I haven’t read.

8. Name a book with the word β€˜one’ in the title.

No One Dies in the Garden of Syn by Michael Seidelman | books, reading, book covers

No One Dies in the Garden of Syn by Michael Seidelman. Man, this was a hard one for me to think of too because the word ‘one’ is so subtle you don’t even really notice it. Great book though, and has a main character with chronic illness.

9. Name a book with a eponymous title.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. I just recently reread this one!

10. Name a book turned into a movie.

Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice

Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice. One of the few books for which I have both read the book and seen the movie. And it was this book/movie that started my love for vampires!

Talk to me!

Do you have a good memory when it comes to book titles/authors/covers?

Love your answers and the idea behind this. <3 On this list, we've only read Frankenstein and we love it! Are you going to do a review of your re-read of it? We're kinda sad because it's a book on our school curriculum but our school didn't choose for us to study it πŸ™ It's so good though, and brings up such good points about the ethics of science, human compassion and how we value things for aesthetic purposes.

We have a good memory of book titles and covers etc when we're together but if we're not there to bounce ideas off each other, we'd have no idea how to finish this challenge. Really cool of you that you could manage to this – that is really amazing. We want to read Beckoning Blood now, as it's set in Australia. It's always interesting what people make of Australia, although does the setting play a large role in the book?

Thanks! I am going to post a review, not sure when though. My review ended up longer than I expected. It’s as thought-provoking book! That’s a bummer the school didn’t choose it :-/

Maybe I just have a good memory? Lol. I don’t think the country played a huge part in the book, but, tbh, I don’t think it’d be a book you guys would enjoy anyway. It’s really dark and explicit. If I ever come across any books set in Australia that I think you might like, I’ll let you know!

  2. Bookgraphy

This looks like such a hard tag! Congratulations on remembering all those things. My memory is usually not that great, especially with author’s names, I just remember like the ones I truly love haha!

    1. Kristen Burns

Thanks! It was fun trying to think of them. But yeah, authors are usually the hardest for me. I usually remember authors for books I like and forget the rest too πŸ˜›

  3. Greg

Graveyard Shift sounds really familiar, have you reviewed that one? Maybe it’s the mummy main character…

Mother May I! Nice… that one would be tough…

I like to think I have a good memory for books but I dunno… this tag might take me a long time lol.

    1. Kristen Burns

Yep, I reviewed that one! A mummy MC is pretty memorable lol.

I swear I think that’s the ONLY book I’ve read that has a month in the title.

I had to sit and think for a bit for some of these πŸ˜›

  4. Aimee (Aimee, Always)

    I tried to come up with my own answers as I read yours, but I fell short on a lot of them. xD My memory (whether bookish or non-bookish) sucks, probably because I have the shortest attention span EVER. T_T Sometimes I can’t even remember character names from my favorite novels. ;-;

    1. Kristen Burns

Lol so far everyone has said they couldn’t do this, and it’s making me question whether my memory is better than I thought. The only reason I’ve started remembering character names is because of taking notes and reviewing and all that.

  5. Lola

Oh i would have quite some trouble remembering books with some of these. I did read a book with a dragon the cover recently, so I could think of that one. I can remember a dystopian book and a contemporary romance one I read that were set in Australia. Not as many books I’ve read take place there. I haven’t read any of the books you listed here.

  6. Angela

Good on you for actually coming up with answers for these questions! I have a terrible memory, I could probably do the first question (Michael Crichton) and that’s it!

  7. Sam @ Spines in a Line

This is such a cool challenge! But as always seems to happen with book title challenges, all my memories of books feels like it’s suddenly wiped clean, I had a hard time answering any of those questions!

    1. Kristen Burns

It was fun! Lol I totally get you. It’s like anytime you’re asked for something specifically, you can’t remember anything about that thing. It’s like our brains just panic lol.

  8. Mikky @ Nocturnal Predators Reviews

I would have been stumped by question 3. I don’t think I’ve read a book that had a character named George within the last decade. It’s a relatively common name, it shouldn’t be this hard to come up with one :/

β™‘ Steel & Stone Series By Annette Marie

  9. Annemieke

Okay I probably couldn’t do this tag since my memory is too bad for this haha. But yeay for you, sharing so many books i’ve never heard of too.

  10. Danya @ Fine Print

I would fail completely at this tag…my memory is utter shit, no joke. While I was reading this I couldn’t even think of a single book written by someone with the last name Smith. Like…what? ?Annette Marie has been *everywhere* lately and I really want to try her books — would you recommend starting with the Steel & Stone series?

    1. Kristen Burns

Lol to be fair, maybe you haven’t read any books by someone with the last name Smith? I think you’d love Annette Marie’s books! I recommended starting with Steel & Stone because that’s how I did it, and I like how it works that way, and I think it explains the world and the supernatural aspects really well. But the Spell Weaver series is also set in that world with some of the same characters, and it takes place chronologically earlier, and I know others who’ve started with that one. So either way works. I haven’t read her Red Winter series yet.

  11. Daniela Ark

haha ok this is NOT a good tag for me LOL
I was SO HAPPY to see The Replacement here! I really like how Brenna Yovanoff writes. Though I think her plots need a little more intensity. Can you believe this one was a DNF?
    ha! yes you can right?
BUT I have to say… one of my all-time favorite covers and premises! Just that covers tells a story! and the premise is genius. Again,.. the plot! fell flat for me and I lost interest but she is a genius wordsmith! Genius

    1. Kristen Burns

Lolol no, this is not a good tag for fibro Dorys.

I actually haven’t read that one, I just remembered the cover because I think I’ve used it in a cover characteristics post πŸ˜› But wow! You DNFed it? *You* DNFed a book?! I’m shocked πŸ˜‰ Sorry it didn’t work for you. The cover is definitely fantastic!

  12. Becky @ A Fool's Ingenuity

I love this tag but it sounds so hard. I knew straight away I wanted to do it but I’ve had to hide images and not really read your post though so I can try it (don’t want to take advantage and steal some of your answers). I have the worst memory and Google is my best friend. The only reason I don’t have one of those Google Home things is that I’ve seen Terminator and I need to limit technology in my life somehow.

    1. Kristen Burns

Good luck with the tag! Maybe it won’t be as hard as you think πŸ™‚ Lol yeah all those machines you talk to around your home and stuff freak me out. No thanks!

  13. Gayathri

Wow this tag is off the charts. I was not able to answer half of them without the internet. I think my memory suck esp. in terms of cover. I rarely remember the cover, now that I read lots of e-books.

  14. Olivia-Savannah Roach

Wow, you totally aced this! I don’t think I would have as brilliant of a memory as you. I do remember characters and plots easily, and titles. Authors names usually come well but if it has been a few years sometimes it takes me time. Even though I often pick up books based on the cover, the cover is usually what is most forgettable for me.

    1. Kristen Burns

Thanks! I’m pretty sure I’m only good with covers because of all the cover posts I do. I remembered using that cover with the knife in one of my posts lol.
