The Weekly Update: 12/25/16

Merry Christmas, everyone 🙂

Or, if you don’t celebrate or are not celebrating for any reason, happy Sunday 🙂

I know it’s Christmas, but I still wanted to post because I love this blogging community and still wanted to say hi to everyone. I will keep it brief though since most of you are probably busy.

So first, just for funzies, I will share with you all one of my favorite Family Guy scenes and one that I think of every time Christmas rolls around. (It’s a little bit gruesome and disturbing, as Family Guy often is, but also hilarious at the end.)

Second, have any of you seen the Arthur Christmas? It might be a little late to recommend Christmas movies, but this movie is amazing. It’s absolutely hilarious (probably more so for adults than kids even though it’s completely clean and appropriate for all ages), it’s super touching, it features a fantastically dysfunctional Claus family, and it’s just all around great. I’m hesitant to say it’s my favorite Christmas movie because I do so love those Rankin-Bass ones… but I don’t know. It’s really good, guys. You should watch it!

Blog/Bookish Updates:

I’ve only got three more posts planned before the year ends, all of them wrap-up type posts. Wednesday will be my top ten books that I read this year, so I’m looking forward to that one!

Also, I have found it, the greatest spam comment ever: “This is the kind of info that are meant to be shared across the internet. Disgrace on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!”

Disgrace on you, search engines. I had a quote from Mulan here making fun of the comment but it was confusing everyone, so no more Mulan quote lol.

Books I Received for Review:

No new review copies!

Books I Finished:

The Children of the Moon by Laekan Zea Kemp | reading, books
The Daughter of the Night by Laekan Zea Kemp | reading, books

I finished the Girl in Between series and will post those reviews at some point. I liked the third book more than I did the first time I read it, but I still had issues with the paranormal stuff being confusing and inconsistent in both of these. Good writing though.

Song of the Week:

No song this week.

In Case You Missed It:

– I shared my favorite book covers from books I read this year.
– I shared my favorite female characters from books I read this year.

Family Guy lol… love it when they broke in through the window, and the smear of blood (is that bad?) Clearly I am not acquainted enough with Family Guy! I’ve never seen it so I wasn’t expecting that- thanx for the laugh!

Love that spam comment. “dishonor on your cow”?

I like those titles too- Children of the Moon/ Daughter of the Night. Have a merry Christmas!

    1. Kristen Burns

Lol well I did warn that it would be gruesome and disturbing. Glad you also found it funny! I love the part at the end about how they’ve in one house for an hour and half.

Oh, no, the dishonor on your cow part was me quoting Mulan, I just thought it was hilarious that the comment actually said, “Digrace on the search engines,” lol.

They are kinda cool book titles! Merry Christmas to you too 🙂

Omgawd, that spam comment has me crying! ??? Dishonor on your cow! I have not seen Arthur Christmas. I should try and watch it this week. I like watching the first Harry Potter movie and the Winnona Ryder version of Little Women at Christmastime. I hope you are having a wonderful holiday. 🙂

    1. Kristen Burns

You should definitely watch Arthur Christmas! I don’t watch the HP movies, but I feel like everyone does seem to enjoy them around Christmastime! You have a wonderful holiday too 🙂

*waves* Yep I’m online today as usual, catching up on comments and posts before I have to start cooking! I’ve got Jurassic World on the dvd player and relaxing with my morning cold latte! I think I’ll watch Fellowship of the Ring next while I browse a zombie book and have lunch. Yes a nice traditional Christmas!

The Kemp books have an interesting idea to them but I’m not sure it is my kind of read. Nice covers though! Merry Christmas!

    1. Kristen Burns

You do Christmas however you wanna do Christmas! I just finished my last book last night while it was technically Christmas, and it wasn’t a particularly Christmassy book either.

  4. Lola

Merry Christmas to you too! I never heard of that Christmas movie before, but then again I haven’t watched or know a lot of Christmas movies. I haven’t watched any Christmas movies this year.

I wanted to do some wrap up posts next week, but didn’t have time to get them written. So I only have one post about my favorite books, my reading challenge wrap up for this year and two reviews. I seem to be ahead with reviews for a change (although in no way as ahead as you are, I am always amazed when i look at your upcoming reviews section) and behind with ramblings ones.

That is a funny spam comment, lol. I’ve had some funny ones, but most are just spammy.

I do like the new covers for that series, but am confused by them as well as I still remember the old covers and only know them by those. Glad to hear you enjoyed them. Have a great week!

    1. Kristen Burns

Merry Christmas! I definitely recommend Arthur Christmas! One or two wrap up posts is better than none 🙂 If it makes you feel any better, like 11 of those books in my sidebar are mini reviews.

It bothers me that with the new covers, each book has a different color (red, blue, purple) but then the last book had a purple background and a red moon -_- Lol you have a great week too!

  5. Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews

Why no Mulan quote? I love Mulan, and now, I’m REALLY curious, too, Kristen! I hope you’re enjoying the holidays, and that you have some books to keep you company… it looked kind of lonely with no new books last week 😉
I will tune in for your fave reads on Wednesday – see if we have any in common at all 😀

    1. Kristen Burns

Well I used the “Dishonor on your cow!” quote, and purple kept thinking that was part of the comment. And don’t worry I still got some ebooks, just no review copies which is actually a good thing because I have enough right now!

  6. Becky @ A Fool's Ingenuity

Merry Christmas (for yesterday because I was too busy to comment until today). I hope you had a good day whatever you did. Also, you are not alone in being late to the Arthur Christmas film, I watched it the other day too and loved it. i don’t know why I didn’t watch it sooner because it’s an Aardman film and I love their films (I am a huge Wallace and Gromit fan because it reminds me of my nan, if you’ve heard of that). It was a really lovely film, It was just really fun and it reminded me I do love Christmas films.

Also, that Mulan comment you were gonna make, was it related to the whole ‘dishonour on you, dishonour on your cow’ scene because I say that to people all the time and only a couple of my friends actually get it.

    1. Kristen Burns

Yay, I’m so glad you also love Arthur Christmas! I don’t think I’ve seen the Wallace and Grommit film though.

YES.That was exactly the quote I had lol. But people were confusing it with the actual comment so it just seemed better to remove it and stop confusing everyone. But you and I are totally on the same wavelength for this post lol.

      1. Becky @ A Fool's Ingenuity

At least we’re both on the same wavelength even if no one else is 🙂

And Wallace and Gromit may be very British, I’m not sure because I’ve grown up watching it. It’s just one of those things which for me is just perfect but I’m sure others will think is strange.

        1. Kristen Burns

Lol one person who gets my jokes is better than none 😛

I feel like I’ve heard of Wallace and Gromit, but I have no idea if it’s a British thing or not.

  7. Jessica

My favorite Christmas movies are Home Alone and 12 Dates of Christmas (it’s like Groundhog Day). I’m back from my trip. I’m still reading on the Anita blake book series. I’m now on book 10.
