7. If You Liked Divergent Trilogy, try The Eden Trilogy by Keary Taylor
Similarities: Badass protagonist (ok, actually, I didn’t really love Tris, but she did have certain badass abilities) who finds out she’s different and then uses her difference to fight for what’s right.
Differences: More post-apocalyptic than dystopian. Cyborg zombies (it’s better than it sounds).
6. If You Liked The Maze Runner, try The Red Sector Chronicles by Krystle Jones
Similarities: Cross between dystopian and post-apocalyptic.
Differences: Maze Runner has Cranks, Red Sector has vampires (but sci-fi-esque vampires) plus a vampire-human war. No puzzle-solving and task-completing. More romance.
5. If You Liked The Mara Dyer Trilogy, try The Nocte Trilogy by Courtney Cole
Similarities: Haven’t read Mara Dyer, so please correct me if I’m wrong… YA genre. Love interest you can’t help but love, too. All sorts of mysterious and eerie.
Differences: Mara Dyer is paranormal, Nocte is a psychological thriller.
4. If You Liked Harry Potter, try The Paper Magician by Charlie N. Holmberg
Similarities: Magic! But straight-up magic that has to be learned by humans, not just supernatural creatures with inherent, instinctual powers. Big showdowns with bad guys you love to hate.
Differences: Older characters. More focus on romance. Completely different types of stories.
3. If You Liked The Night Circus, try Girl on a Wire by Gwenda Bond
Similarities: YA genre. Romance, magic, and circus all rolled into one.
Differences: I haven’t actually read The Night Circus yet, so… (I told you this was a hard TTT for me, cut me some slack!)
2. If You Liked The Black Dagger Brotherhood, try Thieves by Lexi Blake
Similarities: Vampires, BDSM, and occasionally menages.
Differences: To be honest, I haven’t actually read BDB either, but I have a feeling Thieves might be less dark. And funnier. Also, it’s not really BDSM but still has LOTS of kink.
1. If you Liked Supernatural (especially if you ship Destiel), try The Incubus Saga by Amanda Meuwissen
Similarities: Fantasy genre. Two super close brothers driving around the country and hunting down supernatural creatures. Lots of feels.
Differences: The main character actually DOES fall in love with the creature they team up with. And the creature is an incubus, not an angel.
I am definitely going to check GIRL OF THE ON A WIRE since I loved The Night Circus.

I definitely recommend Girl on a Wire! Especially to anyone who likes the magical, mysterious, circusy YA romance stuff 🙂

Haha, then you should definitely check out Incubus! There are reviews for the series on my blog if you wanna know more 🙂 And The Scarlet Dagger isn’t exactly like The Maze Runner, but they have their similarities, and I did enjoy the series.

I think that if I hadn’t read it for the first time as a kid and just heard the description of what it was about now, I probably wouldn’t think I’d like it either. But it’s so surprisingly good! I actually wasn’t sure I’d like The Paper Magician before I read since I it was the first book I’d picked up on magic other than Harry Potter, but it turned out to be a really interesting take on magic and I liked it 🙂
I think you created a wonderful list. The Scarlet Dagger looks really interesting and I may have to check it out. I still need to read The Night Circus even though I have owned it since it was released.

I think I am the only YA fan in the world who hasn’t read Harry Potter yet, and Night Circus has been on my TBR list for a couple years now.

I still haven’t even read some of them, and Divergent and Maze Runner I just read this month, so no judgment here. Though you should really get on that Harry Potter thing! It’s not flawless, but it’s definitely worth the hype.

NOCTE caught my eye a while back but I haven’t gotten to it. It’s New Adult, right?
I’ve read both YA and NA, and I would say no, it’s more YA. NA seems to be more about young people coming into their own, learning about relationships, etc. Nocte is more like… characters declining into madness. Maybe. It’s all very mysterious and confusing lol. And there is a romantic element. So far I’ve enjoyed it, but I’m undecided about the series until the final book comes out (supposedly in October). How it ends, what kind of answers we get about the weird stuff happening, is really going to make or break it for me.
Paper Magician has been intriguing to me – need to get to that one someday soonish My TTT

I do plan on reading Night Circus! I actually really, really want to because it completely sounds like something I’ll love. I just haven’t quite gotten around to it.

Great list! I need to read Mara Dyer, but since I really liked Nocte, this bodes well! And I want to read Night Circus too, and Girl on a Wire sounds VERY intriguing, I will have to look it up!
I definitely recommend Girl on a Wire if you like the circus/magic combination! And it’s got some beautiful writing. I just haven’t gotten around to posting my review on GR or my blog yet because ugh, so many books, not enough days in the week lol.
