Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Laugh Out Loud Book Blurbs

This was a hard post to put together because I only had three that I could think of off the top of my head. Aside from those, I'm lucky if I even vaguely remember what a book is about let alone whether or not I was entertained by its blurb.

But TTT freebies are like the bane of my existence, and I couldn't think of anything else good, so I stuck with it. I looked through my TBR and checked out the blurbs of any I thought might be good and found a decent list. (Well, they're mostly the first lines of blurbs, but you get it.) Anyway, my number one pick is so great that it was worth the whole post :-P

(By the way, I haven't read all of these, so I make no claim as to whether they're good books or not.)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke and the Bookish. This week is a freebie, so my topic is:

Top Ten Laugh Out Loud Book Blurbs

First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones | books, reading, book covers
Strange Magic by James A. Hunter | books, reading, book covers
Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion | books, reading, book covers
The Demon Mistress by Jordan K. Rose | books, reading, book covers
In the Blackroom by Luke Smitherd | books, reading, book covers

10. First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

“This whole grim reaper thing should have come with a manual.
Or a diagram of some kind.
A flow chart would have been nice.”

9. Strange Magic by James A. Hunter

“Yancy Lazarus is having a bad day: there’s a bullet lodged in his butt cheek, his face looks like the site of a demolition derby, and he’s been saran-wrapped to a banquet table. He never should have answered the phone.”

8. Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion

“R is having a no-life crisis–he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he is a little different from his fellow Dead. He may occasionally eat people, but he’d rather be riding abandoned airport escalators, listening to Sinatra in the cozy 747 he calls home, or collecting souvenirs from the ruins of civilization.”

7. The Demon Mistress by Jordan K. Rose

“What’s a girl to do when she discovers her husband, who happens to be the Master Vampire for the New England Region, has been lying to her for, oh, say a hundred and eighty years? Well, it all depends. If she’s accidentally released forty demons from some creepy old book, unintentionally announced the existence of vampires on The Internet, kidnapped a werewolf, enraged a lovesick vampire by stealing his approved mate, and attracted the attention of The High Commander for The Vampire Federation, not to mention gotten stoned and mastered the forbidden art of demon calling, she might be willing to call it even.”

6. In the Black Room by Luke Smitherd

“There are hangovers, there are bad hangovers, and then there’s waking up inside someone else’s head.”

Love, Death, and Tea by Will Once | books, reading, book covers
The Hunted by C.J. Hart | books, reading, book covers
Real Vampires Don't Sparkle by Amy Fecteau | books, reading, book covers
Girl of Myth and Legend by Giselle Simlett | books, reading, book covers
Red Hot Steele by Alex P. Berg | books, reading, book covers

5. Love, Death, and Tea by Will Once

“I was not having a good apocalypse.”

4. The Hunted by C.J. Hart

“Just your average boy-meets-girl, boy-kills-people story.”

3. Real Vampires Don’t Sparkle by Amy Fecteau

“Matheus Taylor didn’t ask to be murdered. To be fair, the percentage of people actually asking to be murdered is probably small enough to be safely ignored, but he felt it was worth stating regardless.”

2. Girl of Myth and Legend by Giselle Simlett

“Leonie Woodville wants to live an unremarkable life. She wants routine, she wants repetition, she wants predictability. So when she explodes in a blaze of light one morning on the way to her college, it’s enough to put a real crimp in her day.”

1. Red Hot Steele by Alex P. Berg

“Detective Jake Daggers likes his murder investigations the way he likes his women–straightforward, easy, and with a killer body.”

Haha, this topic is 5 stars for me Kristen! I love that blurb from Demon Mistress, I actually want to read it…same for #s 5, 4, and 3. Wow, they might be funny but they actually work! LOL

Thanks! And right? They do work! Almost every single of one of these is on my TBR lol. I actually just read Real Vampires Don’t Sparkle, and it had that same kind of humor throughout, so the whole thing was funny 🙂

What a fun topic for a top ten list! I think my favourite of these is the blurb for Red Hot Steele. I haven’t read any of these either, but those blurbs sure sound funny. I do have First Grave on the Right on my to-read list, as it sounds good and some bloggers I follow recently reviewed the last book and made me want to give that series a try finally.

Thanks! Red Hot Steele is free on Amazon, so I have it on my kindle and am looking forward to reading it. And I’ve had First Grave on the Right on my TBR for a while and seriously want to read it. I just really want to find it somewhere I can borrow it though since it’s going to get expensive for the whole series.

Warm Bodies is on my TBR pile to read. It’s been there awhile, admittedly. I want to read it before I see the movie, but the whole zombie thing is what’s put me off so far. I will get to it. I hear it’s worth reading. I’m not familiar with the other titles, but several sound like they might be good.

I’m glad some people have the same sense of humor as me lol. I love that one. And the book is free on Amazon, so I plan to read it eventually. The Black Room actually sounds really interesting, and Strange Magic seems right up my alley with the gritty urban fantasy-ness. Then again, I did take most of these from my TBR lol.

  4. Bookworm Brandee

Oh my! Those are all so good! But I can understand why #1 was your fav. 😉 *hehe* I liked #2 quite a bit as well. And now I’m going to have to go check out the books on this list that aren’t already on my tbr, Kristen! 😀

Haha, yes, I do love #1. #2 really cracks me up too though because I can imagine how that might put a crimp in her day lol. Yay, maybe you’ll find more books you’re interested in 🙂

Ahaha these are awesome. I have never heard of these except for Warm Bodies, but now I’m definitely interested in reading them, particularly number 6 and 2. 😀 I actually rarely pay attention to taglines, so I can’t really remember any of the top of my head. I’ll have to pay attention next time! Fabulous topic, Kristen 😀

Thanks! Yeah, it really is hard to remember the blurbs and taglines lol. Glad you found some books to possibly read 😀 The Black Room (#6) seems especially interesting to me!
