Hmmm this is a hard one for me because standalones tend to be forgettable for me no matter how much I love them at the time, so I’ve chosen a more recently read one even though it’s not my highest rated. Also, it may end up being a series so my whole answer is a mess, but if it is, it’ll be different characters. Anyway, Black Snow was a wonderful book, and it seems fitting since it’s got the wintery cover š

I don’t really have a favorite, but I’ll go with the couple in this series because I just adore these two together, and they make such a perfect couple!!!

I don’t usually like talking about books I dislike, and this is supposed to be a positive holiday post! So I changed this one lol. And Flipped was just the perfect choice because bird on the cover, birds in the book… This was also one of my absolute favorites as a kid, and it turns out I had good taste because even rereading it as an adult, it was a great book.

I almost couldn’t think of one for this since I don’t pay much attention to food in books, but then I remembered that in Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet the protag had a special kind of magic and was able to infuse emotions and abilities into the things she baked, things like happiness or energy or love. And THAT would be some amazing food to have!

The first thing that came to mind was this scene in Slowly We Rot in which the protag waltzes in the street with a zombie, and now I can’t think of anything else.

Big Fish
I haven’t seen very many, but Big Fish was my favorite movie for a long time and the only movie I know pretty much every word to (or at least I used to, it’s been a while). It’s also the only screenplay I own. (Btw the part in that first photo is one of my favorite scenes lol.) But I must admit I saw the movie before I read the book, and I don’t care for the book.

I don’t listen to movie soundtracks. Well, except musicals, but those generally aren’t books first. But I think Sweeney Todd originally appeared in a book, then a play was made, then a movie, and I do like that soundtrack.

The Gardella Vampire Hunters: Victoria Series by Colleen Gleason
Wow, what’s with all these hard questions about things I don’t think about?! Also, is this the order other people do this song? Because the version I’ve listened to my whole life does the last four in a completely different order. Anyway, I’m just going with the Gardella Vampire Hunters series for the sole reason that I knew exactly who I wanted the MC to be with the moment he was introduced in Book 1, and after lots of love triangle uncertainty, she did in fact end up with him in the end š
Standalones can be tough, although Black Sky does have a nice cover. The Eden trilogy (love THAT cover too) reminds me I was gonna read that. Need to write that down somewhere lol. And yeah vampires- there’s a shocker. š
I like some of those gold covers- the first one with the mask and The Golden Hourglass. Flipped is just cute.
Food with emotions? Yes please. Seriously how cool would that be, to have magic food? I can think of all kinds of story ideas there- we need more like that. Big Fish I haven’t seen. And yay for Colleen Gleason. Vampire hunters plus I (kinda) liked her Stoker & Holmes books.
I wish I could think of some good fictional foods- all that comes to mind are the elves stuff from Lord of the Rings. And Game of Thrones is all about food but half that stuff you wouldn’t want to eat lol.
You really do need to write that down, haha.
Seriously I could very much use some magic food lol. You should definitely watch Big Fish though! Haven’t seen GoT, don’t think I wanna know what they eat.
The order listed is what I learned the song as in Scotland tho I can’t speak for anyone else! I liked the look of the tag but a few questions seemed a bit too weird ie I don’t read books about people dancing or care what they eat or think of a film soundtrack that came from a book! It was fun reading your choices though!
Oh come on, surely you’ve read about characters dancing just for a scene at least once! And my example was about a guy dancing with a zombie, you’d like that scene š Apparently lots of people love reading about food in books though?
The books I read, things don’t dance, they die! *giggles* Actually I might check out Slowly we rot as it sounds a bit different from my usual zombie reads.

What’s your favorite book-to-movie adaptation? I’m more of a romantic so the movie for Me Before You was a good one for me. That’s probably my favorite recent book to movie adaptation.
No worries, I haven’t been commenting much either, wrist pain :-/ But yeah, I can’t even, like, move when it’s a measly 70 degrees where I live, so I get you lol.

I think my favorite standalone would probably be A Mortal Song, really enjoyed that one and I mostly read series, so it’s hard to think of any standalones I read. I remember reading your review of Black Snow and it sure fits the winter theme. I enjoy reading about characters who are just such a perfect couple, all my 5 star reads this year would probably fit in this category.
Nice picks for the golden books, I can’t think of many books with gold on the cover either. I am not surprised you picked vampires for favorite creature. I probably would go with shifters. I don’t often watch movie adaptions, although I did recently watch the Lord of the Rings and we’re now watching the Hobbit. I don’t plan on reading the books as I am not sure I would enjoy them, but I did like seeing the movies. This was a fun post to read š

I had fogoitten about Big Fish! How could I have done that?! I like ve and adore that movie. I need to start getting all of my favoirite movies on DVD so I can watch them on my laptop whenever I want. It would have been a wonderful movie to watch on Thanksgiving. I love Sweeny Todd! I have the Broadway show recording CD. I should get the movie soundtrack downloaded to my Kindle tablet. I don’t think I have any gold books either. Ha ha. š
Yay Big Fish fan! It’s such an underrated movie and so many people haven’t even seen it. Same for Sweeney! Funny, I just realized both are Tim Burton directed lol.
Sweeney Todd is amazing! I love musicals. And I think that vampires are awesome too!
As for my own favourite book to movie adaptation, I honestly don’t know. I liked City of Bones and the Twilight films (sparkles + vampires = the best).
