Bookish Tag Post: Zombie Apocalypse Book Tag

I don’t do a ton of tag posts on this blog, but I have to admit, I totally love these types of tags where you choose books and then open to a random page and answer each question with the first word or character name you see.

I found this tag on Paradise Found, the original is from Nathan Hale, and this is how it works:

1. Pick any five books randomly (or not randomly, your choice).
2. The first name you see when you flip open the book on a random page will be the person who is the answer to the question.
3. Each book must answer two questions.

And to make things even more fun and random, I chose five books before even reading the questions, put them in order, then answered Q1 with Book 1, Q2 with Book 2, etc., and then started over after reaching Book 5 (e.g. Q6 with Book 1). That way I couldn’t cheat and left everything up to chance 😉 Here’s how it went for me, and, as usual, I tag everyone!

My Books:

1. Vespers by Irene Preston & Liv Rancourt
2. Rises the Night by Colleen Gleason
3. Steal the Night by Lexi Blake
4. The Alabaster Concordat by J. Armand
5. Saga Vol. 5 by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples

My Answers:

1. The first person to die
Nohea. *phew!* That sounds terrible, she isn’t a bad character, but I adore the Sara and Thad and really didn’t want either of them to die!

2. The person you trip to get away from the zombies
Victoria. Well, to be fair, she could totally hold her own against some zombies, so she’ll be fine. I, on the other hand, need the extra help lol.

3. The first person to turn into a zombie
Lee. Awww, he’s a good guy. But part of me is relieved because I love a lot of characters in this book, some of them more than Lee. Although he’d be pretty formidable as a zombie considering he’s already a werewolf, so that’s a bit concerning… Thankfully I’ve also got some vampires and other types of supernaturals on the team!

4. The person that trips YOU to get away from the zombies
Noah. It would be Noah -_- That definitely sounds like something he would do. But then he’d probably come back to save me, so it’s all good.

5. The idiot of the team
The Will. Eh. He’s not stupid, unless you count the way he seemed to have lost his shit in Vol. 6, so this just doesn’t fit very well.

6. The “brains” of the team
Sara. Yeah, ok, I can work with that. He does seem pretty intelligent. He is often the one who’s the brains behind the things he and Thad are trying to figure out. I’m also just glad to have him on my team since he’d be great comic relief 😛

7. The team’s medic
George Starcasset? We’re doomed if anyone gets hurt. Lol. He’s not exactly the brightest crayon in the box, so I can’t imagine he’d make a very good medic.

8. The weapons expert
Daniel. Damn, I really wanted it to be Dev because Dev would’ve been absolutely perfect for this question if this quote is any indication:

He was shoving a semiautomatic pistol into the holster he’d wrapped around his shoulders, but I wondered why he needed it since it looked like he’d already emptied out the armory. He was carrying a P-90 and something I didn’t recognize. Zack trailed behind him, carrying a bag that was filled with what I was pretty sure were cakes of C-4.

Daniel sat up and observed [Dev] with an approving nod. “Nice. You’ve been wanting to use those flamethrowers ever since we bought them.”

But Daniel will do.

9. The brawler
I cheated a bit for this one because the first name was a background character. So instead I got Nathaniel. But what exactly is meant by “brawler”? Creating fights with our own people? Because he totally wouldn’t do that. But if it’s brawling with the zombies, then yeah, I think he’d be able to help kick some zombie ass.

10. The Team Captain
Robot IV. I have to admit, I was crossing my fingers when I saw this question that it would be him because I just kind of love him lol. Although with him, you never really know; he might just kill us instead of the zombies. But there is a chance he’d make a good captain since he’s a prince and likely has already had leadership experience.

My Chances of Surviving:

Well, I gotta say, between Victoria (a vampire hunter with supernatural strength and ability to fight), Noah (a vampire/martial arts expert), The Will (an assassin), Daniel (an extremely powerful vampire), Nathaniel (someone with supernatural abilities), and Robot IV (a robot with weapons who doesn’t seem to take any issue with killing), I’m feeling pretty damn good about our chances!

I’ve seen this tag several times on BookTube and love it everytime. It was fun reading your answers. If the zombie apocalypse comes, I’m a goner unless my husband can save me. I’m pretty bright, but not extremely athletic. But REAL zombies (at least the original ones) are slow so I MIGHT have a chance.

It’s such a fun tag! I used to be athletic but I’d be a goner now. I’m smart too, but that’s not gonna help when a zombie is actually chasing me lol.

Ooh I like the graphic for this. And I love that you have to trip someone lol. Hey every person for themself! A werewolf zomb? Yikes. Is Robot IV the guy with a TV for a head?

Your team looks pretty good. I imagine the Saga people being used to outer space shenanigans can probably handle some zombies. And here’s the thing- can you turn a vamp? I would think not, so between the vamps and a robot guy you should be golden. 🙂

Lol but at least I don’t have to feel about the person I tripped since Victoria will totally be fine. Although yeah, the werewolf zombie is pretty concerning. Yep, that’s Robot IV lol.

I thought of that too! That vampires probably can’t be turned, so that’s another plus. And oh yeah, IV has fought in war and whatnot, so I’m sure he’ll be fine. My team is gonna kick zombie ass 😉

OMG what an absolutely fun tag! I’m totally planning to do this one 🙂 Will let you know when I do! But I’m afraid I haven’t read any of the books you’ve mentioned but now I’m so curious especially since they’re mostly urban fantasy! So thanks for the book recs too 😀 🙂

  4. Danya @ Fine Print

I’m not that big on tags either, but I completely agree that this kind of format makes them way more fun! The idea of Robot IV as team captain is blowing my mind because you’re right: he’d either save humanity or kill us all. LOL!

I really do think your team will be able to survive perfectly in tact! I mean, they all sound like they have some skills to their advantage that they could hone. I would probably join your team for the best chances of my own survival as well.

Haha, reading sci-fi and fantasy has definitely worked to my advantage in this case 😉 You’re more than welcome to join my team, the more the merrier!
