Update: Life and Books (Sep 2025)

I’m a little late with this post because I’ve been worried and stressed and tired and just forgot last weekend. But I’m here now! So what have I done since my last update…

I started listening to a new (to me) podcast called Midnight Burger. It’s about a diner that travels through time and space.

I watched Galavant on Hulu. It was fun! Made me laugh. From what I understand, it was supposed to have more than two seasons but was canceled. Ended well enough though, and I don’t plan on renewing my Hulu subscription (I got a really good year-long deal for Hulu and Disney+ last year for Black Friday), so I figured I’d just watch it while I could in case it does get picked up somewhere else.

I’m still playing BG3, currently doing an all druids run and having fun.

I think I’ve said before that I watch a lot of YouTube shorts because sometimes it’s all I can really focus on. One channel that has caught my attention recently is this amazing flying trapeze group! I especially love the slow-mo videos because you can really see how much control and air awareness they have and how amazing their form is, and these are hard skills!

And that’s it, that’sall the cool stuff I can think of to talk about right now 😅

Blog/Bookish Updates:

Nothing this month.

Books I Received for Review:

I don’t think I got any review copies.

Books I Finished:

Lovesick Gods by Amanda MeuwissenThe Alpha's Son by Penny JessupThe Naga by Stella Rainbow

If you’re considering buying any of these books from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!

I read more books in September than I have in a month in a while!

🌟Lovesick Gods // Lovesick Titans by Amanda Meuwissen – This was a reread, and I loved it. The books completely sucked me in, in a way that hasn’t happened in a while. The enemies to lovers romance is so angsty but also has so much chemistry, and all the emotion is great, and the friendships are great, and I just love these books.

The Alpha’s Son // Chasing the Alpha’s Son // Running with the Alpha’s Son by Penny Jessup – I reread the first book and then read the next two because I thought the series was complete. I was wrong 😫 Still, I enjoyed these! YA also sort of angsty romance, also with friendship and action.

The Naga // The Jorogumo by Stella Rainbow – These were not the deepest, but they were sweet, and I do enjoy an uncommon supernatural, and I like that these books have so much diversity in queer rep and sorta disability.

That’s great you found a new podcast to listen to that you enjoy. I have a few of my favorite podcasts I listen to, but finding a new one can be tough. I hadn’t heard of that show Galavant before, but good to know it ended well after those 2 seasons even though it was supposed to have more seasons. Your BG3 druid run sounds fun. And that’s awesome you read so many books, The Alpha’s Son sounds good and I like that The Naga has a naga on the cover, don’t think I’ve read a book about a naga before.

It is tough finding new podcasts. I get used the ones I listen to after a while, I know the different people, it’s comforting, but that goes away when you start a new one, and then you also have to find one that clicks with you. I don’t think I had read about a naga before either, but there should be more books with them!

Galavant was one of my favorite shows; it actually caused me to get Hulu for a few months when it was airing. I missed it so much. Sad it got cancelled. The guy who played King Richard (Timothy Omundson) actually had a stroke. Last he heard, he had somewhat recovered, but it might still be hard for him to act.

I would love if they would do another season. Did you have a favorite character?

    1. Kit (Metaphors and Moonlight)

I feel like no one has heard of Galavant, I just happened to see it mentioned on Tumblr, and it looked fun. Oh wow, I didn’t know about the stroke, that’s rough. I think Richard ended up being my favorite character. Didn’t like him at first, understandably lol, but he did grow on me. But I really liked the whole team dynamics by the end. Surprisingly found the relationship the queen and the guard (can’t remember anyone’s names lol) endearing by the end too. You?

Oh, you know me; Gareth and Madelana = OTP

I wish they would have gotten a more full ending but I like to believe they ended up together lol

I like Richard a lot too. Love a good redemption arch 😅
