I was looking for a book tag to do, and I think I saw one called “April Showers,” but it’s not April anymore, so I thought, what about “May Flowers”? Which didn’t exist, as far as I could tell, so I made my own.
Does this even count as a book tag? I don’t know. I’m just gonna find five books I’ve read with floral covers and then talk about them. Because I’m tired, and it seems easy enough, but it also gives me the chance to talk about some books I maybe haven’t talked about much or in a while. If you would like to do the same, feel free to make your own post!
. . .
Ok so I wrote that and then went scrolling through my Goodreads list of books I’ve read. And although I’ve seen a ton of books with flowery covers, apparently I haven’t read a ton of them. So this was harder than I thought, but after going back far enough, I managed to find five books that at least have a flower on them lol.
A Botanical Daughter by Noah Medlock
This was not a personal favorite of mine, but other people may love it, and it is undeniably floral! Pretty cover. And very relevant to the story, since the book is about a gay couple who create a sentient(?) girl out of fungus and plants.
The Goblins of Bellwater by Molly Ringle
I had to go all the way back to 2018 for this one! So I don’t remember it very well. But I know I really enjoyed it, and it had a lot of cool naturey stuff. And a beautiful flowery cover to match. Well, maybe more planty than flowery, but too good to not include.

A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske
I don’t remember if flowers or plants factor into this story at all? The floral cover is sort of reminiscent of wallpaper patterns though, which gives it a historical vibe, I suppose. I’ll be honest, this isn’t my favorite color combo, but it’s still a nice cover! And I really enjoyed this book/series.

Hymn of Memory by S. Jean
This is a really chill book with kind characters and a touch of queer romance. Not a lot of nature, but there are some sunflowers, both on the pretty cover and the in the story, if I recall correctly.

Boys of Alabama by Genevieve Hudson
This was a weird book. I liked it, but it was still weird and unsettling, about a queer boy in a conservative religious town. The main character could bring dead things back to life, maybe he did so with a flower at one point? That might be why there’s a flower on the cover, or maybe the flower is a metaphor for life, I don’t actually remember. I do like the cover, either way.
I love the Goblins of Bellwater cover, so pretty. I loved A Marvellous Light but haven’t finished the series yet.
It really is a gorgeous cover!
Points for creativity!
“a gay couple who create a sentient(?) girl out of fungus and plants”
😮 Intriguing…
Yeah, it was very Frankenstein-esque.
Wow.. ive read barely nothing with flowers on the cover this year!
Arguably, I’ve got before the coffee gets cold (floral painted in the wallpaper?) aswell as a retelling of beauty & the beast that ofcourse have ONE rose on it.
I had to go back a lot of years just to find these, haha. One rose still counts 😛
Mind if I steal this book tag (and link back to you here)? I love the idea of recommending/briefly reviewing 5 books with floral covers. Especially since those tend to be either really creepy or historic fiction ones. 😀
Sure, have fun! 🙂
Oooh this post made me happy! I LOVE my flowers and even better are flowers combined with a mild creepy factor lol So, the first two and last one were my faves but I loved them all.
On a side note – we have an ice cream place out here in WA that does themed flavors every month (Salt & Straw) and this month is the May flowers series. Just related random trivia for ya lol
Yay 😀 I really thought I had more that were flowery and creepy, but it turns out I’ve just seen a lot of them around. I do like that combo on a cover. I like your random trivia too lol.
