I’m trying to remember what I did this past month while battling a bad headache. (“Why are you blogging while you have a bad headache?” I always have headaches, and lying down makes them worse, and there’s no where here that I can put a chair to try resting upright, so I usually just keep doing stuff while in pain because I don’t know what else to do.) I also had a really exhausting day a few weeks ago and had to push my body too far past its limits, and since then I’ve either been in a crash or just permanently at a new lower baseline :-/
I know I rewatched Arcane. It’s a fantastic show and one that I felt like I needed to watch again to fully grasp the details of. It made me more emotional the second time 😭 Also a fantastic soundtrack that I’ve been listening to a lot. It’s better when you have the emotional impact or kickass action of the show to connect to it, but here’s one of the songs anyway that won’t ruin any emotional moments, in case you haven’t seen the show yet.
I also watched Mickey 17. Creative idea. Not really what I thought it would be from what I vaguely remembered about the trailer, I think? Not a favorite, but not bad.
I don’t think I played any new games, just played a little bit of BG3 and Palia, as usual. I did buy Paralives though, which just came out in early access—as a lifelong Sims player with immeasurable disappointment in the The Sims 4 and the direction that franchise has taken, my curiosity was too strong to resist—so maybe I’ll have that to talk about next month.
I didn’t do anything for Mermay. The first time I didn’t participate since I started drawing mermen in 2019. Drawing has become more and more draining and difficult with my exhaustion and headaches, and I wasn’t feeling well enough or feeling the inspiration or motivation to make pushing my body worth it. I got out my drawing tablet for the first time in a year though and opened Rebelle and just started drawing and ended up with this. It’s simple and has obvious mistakes, but at least I did something? The white hair was sort of accidental, it’s a layer I put behind the black to add a bit more color, and when I turned off the black, I thought it looked cool.

I think that’s it? Nothing too exciting this month.
Blog/Bookish Updates:
Did I say I was going to participate in the Discussion Challenge this year? Because it occurs to me that I haven’t done a single discussion post (unless my Heated Rivalry post counts, but that wasn’t about books). I haven’t had any ideas, nothing I feel the need to discuss. Maybe I’ll feel inspired to do at least one before the year ends 😅
Books I Received for Review:
I don’t think I got any this month.
Books I Finished:
If you’re considering buying any of these books from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!
All Accounts Settled by Drew Hayes – A touching finale to the Fred, the Vampire Accountant series!
Shade Spells with Strangers // Cleaning Spells Before Courtship by Sarah Wallace & S.O. Callahan – Another series ending. I think these were my least favorites of the series, but I still enjoyed the last one and was glad that character got his own book. It was overall a cute historical fantasy romance series about different fae and human couples!
