At the beginning of the year, I did a blog post about upcoming indie games in 2019. I’m still waiting for some of those, but now the year is half over, and I’ve discovered a few more games to get excited about, so here’s part 2!
(Descriptions below are taken from the official descriptions.)
In Blood by Jaime Scribbles Games
Description:
After a night of drinking Eleadora takes a shortcut home through the woods. She’s angry, frustrated, and sad. At the crossroads she trips and cuts her hand on some broken glass. While looking over her wounds she mutters a wish out loud that calls upon an ancient and forgotten force that changes her life forever.
She wakes up in an unknown room, in an unknown house, on an unknown plane of existence. Surrounded by horrors and death she must attempt to find an ally among the other occupants of the house. It’s clear they don’t have her best interests in mind, and trusting them could be deadly.
Survive and try to maintain your humanity.
Escape, if you still want to.
Escape, if they’ll let you.
My Thoughts:
To be honest, I don’t know when this one is coming out because it just says, “Coming Soon!” It looks fun though! What can I say, I like the look of all these interesting, sexy supernatural beings.
Mutazione by Die Gute Fabrik
Description:
MUTAZIONE is an adventure game where the juicy personal drama is just as important as the high-stakes ‘adventure’ part of the story. It draws on the ensemble cast format of storytelling in favourite television shows such as Twin Peaks, Deep Space Nine, Grey’s Anatomy, and Lost.
Over 100 years ago a great meteor named ‘Moon Dragon’ struck a tropical holiday resort. Most of the inhabitants perished but those who didn’t remained in the mutating environment and founded the small community of Mutazione.
Fast-forward to modern day, where you play as the protagonist Kai as she travels to this strange and secretive community to visit her ailing grandfather, Nonno. Explore the village, plant musical gardens, choose who you want to talk to, and find your way through an in-game week of small-town drama and scenic hangouts.
As you nurse your grandfather back to health, you make new friends, discover old betrayals, unravel long-kept secrets, and embark on a final spiritual journey to try to save everyone from the mysterious darkness at the heart of it all…
My Thoughts:
Whether it’s books, shows, movies, or games, I love good characters. And this one sounds like it’s going to have a lot of interesting characters to explore, plus it sounds like a pretty chill game. The music gardens sound cool!
Crossroads Inn by Kraken Unleashed
Description:
Crossroads Inn is a real time management sim set in an original fantasy world of Delcrys. Build and manage your tavern, make visiting adventurers happy, and make your services famous all over the land.
My Thoughts:
I used to play a lot of management sim games, and I’m not sure why I ever stopped. They’re fun! And I’ve ever never played one about a tavern before.
Encased by Dark Crystal Games
Description:
Encased is an isometric role-playing game in a sci-fi post-apocalyptic setting. It was inspired by the first two Fallout installments, Divinity: Original Sin, Baldur’s Gate, Pillars of Eternity and alike.
Make your own unique adventure, thanks to the breathtaking random encounters: create an unassailable fortress out of a crashed plane, win gladiator games, escape the Labyrinth Of Death or steal mysterious case from a roadside car.
And remember, game world will react to your actions. Save a settlement from the raider attack and find new trusted friends, or turn your back, finish off any survivors and pillage ruins. Choice is yours.
My Thoughts:
I had to use bits of pieces of the description since it was long. What has me interested in this is that it looks like all those rpg games I want to play but can’t because they’re too stressful with real-time combat, but this one has turn-based combat! I’m curious about this world and story and all the possibilities.
Godhood by Abbey Games
Description:
Create your own religion in the strategy god game Godhood. Select virtues and vices. Inspire construction of great temples, ready for rituals to be held in your honor. Guide and develop your faithful disciples in turn-based conflict to convert worshippers away from rival gods. Become the most powerful god of all!
My Thoughts:
This one was mentioned to me by Lola @ Lola’s Reviews, and it sounds cool! I’ve never played a game like this where you get to literally be a god.
Guildlings by Sirvo Studios
Description:
Guildlings is a single player episodic adventure for mobile, set in a world of wizards and wifi. This offbeat, JRPG-inspired fantasy focuses more on navigating friendships than on slaying bad guys.
You play as Coda, a homeschooled teen who’s had the unfortunate luck of activating a cursed smartphone. Now you must recruit your friends to become Guildlings, using their extraordinary powers to free yourself from the curse – and save the world along the way.
My Thoughts:
I might not actually get to play this one since it’s coming to mobile and I have no storage space on my phone, but it looks great! The art looks pretty, and I love the idea of what appears to a kind of rpg/visual novel mashup that’s not focused on the fighting.
A tavern sim! I would be ON that. And honestly I’m amazed no one has done it before. I hope it’s amazing. also Mutazione does sound fun and super chill. I’m starting to like more games sometimes where it’s just kinda relaxed and whatnot, not always having to run around and do crazy stuff, you know? So I’m glad to see more that kinda stuff coming..
Encased looks awesome too, plus post-apoc! And a Baldurs Gate mention – I’m just finishing my run through of BG so any mention of that makes me interested.
It sounds so fun, right? I wonder if there are any other tavern sims like this out there. Yeah, I like relaxed games. Life is stressful enough, I don’t need to add more stress to it lol, I need things to turn to in order to de-stress.
I’m actually not familiar with Baldur’s Gate, but it sounds like that game might be great for you then!

These all sound like they would be fun to play. I’m really drawn to Godhood. The idea of creating your own religion in a video game just really intrigues me.
It does sound like a cool concept, doesn’t it?!
I only play a few simple games on my tablet but I hope you love all of these when they finally come out.
Karen @ For What It’s Worth
Thanks!
oooh these look really good Kristen! I don’t play games often because I’m always reading some sort of story or watching a kdrama but I will share with my roommate and brothers! They love these sorts of games. I especially love the look of Encased!! ❤️
I hope they find some they like!
This is such a cool post! I never pay attention to the smaller studio/indie games because there are so many big games that I wan to play – but sometimes the best ones are these type! I love sim type games so that god one and tavern one sound pretty fun. I may have to check those out!
Thanks! Indie games are harder to find, but I like them! The tavern one does sound like a lot of fun.
Oh cool you added Godhood to this post! I am quite looking forward to that one, but am waiting till when it’s fully finished before buying it as I don’t really care for the early access stuff. I think a long time ago god games were quite popular, but nowadays you don’t see them as often.
Mutazione sounds interesting. I like the sound of the drama and adventure being both important.
I’ve never seen a management game about an inn before, that sounds fun.
Yep! Not sure if I’ll actually end up playing it, but it does sound cool. I didn’t know there used to be more god games, that’s interesting.
You find the coolest games! I’m kind of intrigued by the tavern sim game, it looks like a laugh And Guildlings seems like a game that would suck up my time and I’d love it.
They both look great!
