I forgot last weekend that I was supposed to do an update post, but it worked out alright, I got my Christmas recs post out early in the month. But then I also forgot all week to make this post, so I’m making it after midnight when it’s already supposed to be up.
My health is not great, and it’s had me distracted lately. I’m worried because I know things will get bad, and I don’t want them to. I’ve been putting certain things off as long as possible, in the hopes of getting things ready that might help, but I just don’t have the energy, and I don’t know how much longer I can put things off. The exhaustion and stress makes it harder to focus on and do certain things. Hence the blogging struggles. Does anyone want to help me move to Canada? I feel like it would help at least some of my problems.
Let’s see, what more pleasant things do I actually have to share with you all… I got sucked in by a really good Black Friday deal, so I now have Hulu and Disney+ for a year lol. I can finally watch all the Disney/Pixar movies that have come out in the past, like, ten years. I already watched Turning Red! Let me know if you have recs. I don’t promise I’ll watch them, but I’ll look them up.
I watched the Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves movie. It was great! Fun visual effects, great story, some action, some humor. And thanks to BG3, I understood the classes and spells and stuff, and it was cool to see how they were portrayed there vs the game.
Speaking of BG3, I am in fact still playing. I started playing it last December and have played almost no other games since. I did not imagine this game—any game—would take hold of me like this. I still haven’t reviewed it. I don’t know how! How do you put that much love for something into words?? If you want to see all my ramblings about this game, check my tumblr, it’s almost all I talk about there.
I can’t remember if I said last time, I started listening to the Big Game Hunger podcast, and have already listened to the entire backlog 😭 In each episode, the host and a guest take a random adjective, premise, and type of gameplay and then come up with a game idea, and it’s silly and fun.
I’m not one to celebrate holidays anymore, but enjoy yours if you do! Just please keep yourself and others, especially those of us more vulnerable, safe by continuing to wear masks in public <3
Blog/Bookish Updates:
Nothing this month.
Books I Received for Review:
I don’t think I got any in November.
Books I Finished:
If you’re considering buying any of these books from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!
✨ The Usual Apocalypse by Christine Price – This was a reread of a favorite, and it was honestly even better than I remembered! Fantastic m/m romance and characters and supernatural powers and mystery.
The Half Life of Valery K by Natasha Pulley – Historical fiction, not SFF, but one of those stories that’s so far removed from my life that it feels like it is. Full of radioactive nuclear testing and queer feelings.
Reborn by Seth Haddon – M/M fantasy romance that pulled me in more as it went on.
The Dragon Squisher // The Crudge Whacker by Scott McCormick – I relistened to the first one to remember the details (worked out perfectly that I had an Audible subscription last month and this was a free listen) and then listened to the second. I missed the friendship for part of the second book, but these were fun YA!
I’m sorry you’re struggling more than usual 💙 (also, the Orange Menace will make so many lives miserable from now on, and it will especially affect those who were already struggling for a number of reasons…)..
Now that Doctor Who is on Disney, I would recommend it of course 😂…but I know you’re not big on classic sci-fi. Then again, it’s a quirky show, so…I’m not sure if you would like the Eccleston era (13 episodes), but Tennant’s comes right after…then you have Smith and Capaldi, which I both loved (I’m not particularly fond of the most recent seasons, but hey, to each their own…).
Thanks <3 I didn't even know Doctor Who is on Disney, but I'm not surprised to see you recommending it 😅
I am sorry to hear about your health struggles and that you know things will get bad. It’s so tough to get anything done when you just don’t have the energy. Yay for finding a good Black Friday deal, I got some books and audiobooks.
I watched that D&D movie a while ago and thought it was quite fun and well done. That’s neat that because of BG3 you understood some of the spells and classes form the movie.
I think it’s awesome you’re still playing BG3 now a whole year later and are still enjoying it.
I love that feeling when you re-read a book and it’s even better than the first time. I had one of those recently too and it’s great.
Thanks <3 I'm glad you liked the movie too! It really is a great feeling to love a book even more on a reread.
I’m sorry about the health problems. I lost my health insurance in September and then immediately messed up my shoulder, so I’m hoping it heals on its own. It hasn’t so far. The kid and I just watched Moana. I think that’s Disney? We loved it.
Ohno im sorry to hear, hopefully you can find ways to ease the pain soon ❤️❤️
