Another month of nothing. Just being tired and having all the usual aches and pains and worrying about things. But when I wasn’t doing that (or rather, while I was doing that, since I’m always doing that) I was playing more Baldur’s Gate 3. I would say I’m sorry that’s all I’ve talked about for like six months, but I’m not. It’s just so good. Here’s a picture of Wyll trying to convince a guard to let him pass while in clown face paint because I completely forgot he had it on after our day at the circus.
“My dear lady, I am Wyll Ravengard. I will not pay to enter my own city.”
My blogiversary is coming up! In like a week. So I’ll do a post for that.
Within the past couple months, I started listening to a podcast called “Mom Can’t Cook.” It’s two guys watching old DCOMs (Disney Channel Original Movies) and then talking about them, and it’s so funny. Especially since I’ve seen most of the movies, but it’s fun even when I haven’t. So check that out if you need a laugh sometimes!
I don’t know, that’s all I’ve got this month.
Blog/Bookish Updates:
Nothing.
Books I Received for Review:
I grabbed audiobook copies of Now, Conjurers by Freddie Kölsch, and The Stars Too Fondly by Emily Hamilton from the Libro.fm ALC program! I’m behind on everything, but these are two books I was already interested in, so I’m looking forward to them! The first is queer YA supernatural(?) horror, the other is queer sci-fi in space. (And Libro.fm is a great place to buy audiobooks if you want to support local bookstores! That’s my referral link.)
Also, thank you to Simon & Schuster for sending me a couple more books!
A Magic Fierce and Bright by Hemant Nayak is about a technomancer trying to save her sister in South India in a future where machines were wiped out by magic, or something like that? I haven’t had the chance to read it yet, but it sounds really cool. And holy smokes, this hardcover is gorgeous! I didn’t realize until fairly recently how much I love shiny covers, I’m like a crow or an octopus, drawn to shiny things 😅
Unbecoming by Seema Yasmin is about Muslim teens fighting for abortion rights. Though it’s set in the near future, I don’t think it’s SFF, but it also has a beautiful cover and a little etching on the book itself!
Books I Finished:
If you’re considering buying any of these books from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!
Thirst Trap // Sucker Punch by Nazri Noor – I finished up this queer urban fantasy trilogy. It was a lot of fun!
The Beast Without // The Orchard of Flesh // Sins of the Son // Tears in Time by Christian Baines – I reread the first three books (ok I sorta skimmed to refresh my memory) and then read the fourth book. Still going strong! Another great urban fantasy series, one that has delving into other realms and time and whatnot.
I’ve never seen a horned guy in clown face paint, so at least you’re broadening my horizons! 😉
Those hardcover are beautiful! I’m glad S&S still loves you.
Lol at least I’m keeping things interesting. Thanks 😅
Glad to hear you’re still havign fun with Baldur’s Gate, it is great when you can enjoy a game so much. I also got The Stars Too Fondly for review, the ebook version instead of audio though. I haven’t read it yet, but it sounds really good. That cover for A Magic Fierce and Bright does look very pretty with the shiny effect, I don’t think I have any paperbacks or hardcovers that have that, but then again i rarely get physical copies anymore and mostly get ebooks.
Thanks! I still haven’t listened to it. If we both ever get to it, we can chat about it lol. I really am loving the shiny, more books should be like that.
That podcast sounds so fun! It seems like there are a lot of “retro” type podcasts out there, revisiting old shows and such.
It is a lot of fun! Mostly because they’re not very good movies lol.
Those S&S books are gorgeous!
Happy blogiversary!!
Thank you!
