For this quick review post, I have another complete series to review. This time the Reconstructionist series by Meghan Ciana Doidge. It’s part of the Dowser series world, but it’s probably possible to read just these if you want to. These books have my favorite character from the Dowser series as more of a main character. Anyway, here are my thoughts and links to the full reviews!
*Quick Reviews are posts where I share summaries and links for reviews I’ve recently posted to Goodreads and Amazon but don’t plan to make full review posts for here on the blog. Tag links are at the end.*
Catching Echoes (Reconstructionist Book 1) by Meghan Ciana Doidge
In Catching Echoes, a witch with the power to replay what happened at crime scenes involving magic works a case with a terrifyingly powerful vampire.
Wisteria’s reconstruction magic was cool, Kett’s vampire-ness was interesting, and the mystery element kept me wondering but made sense in the end. A solid paranormal/urban fantasy book.

Tangled Echoes (Reconstructionist Book 2) by Meghan Ciana Doidge
In Tangled Echoes, a witch (Wisteria) works with her estranged childhood love (Declan) and a vampire (Kett) to find her missing cousin.
I feel like I got to know Wisteria more, and of course I love me some vampire-y vampires! This book also had a good plot, higher stakes, tension, mystery, and backstory. I liked this one a little better than the first!

Unleashing Echoes (Reconstructionist Book 3) by Meghan Ciana Doidge
In Unleashing Echoes, Wisteria, Jasmine, and Declan have one last case to solve—this time about missing witch children—before their time is up on the vampire contract.
I enjoyed this whole series—good mysteries, characters I grew to understand and care about, interesting magic, a fascinating love interest—but this ending was unsatisfying and disappointing.

That sounds a good series. Yes, I have been disappointed with some books. I was a little disappointed with the sequel to BirdBox. He left you hanging. I was also disappointed with The Hunger Games book ending because I felt like she had rushed the ending.
Other than the ending, I did enjoy it. Re: Bird Box, I usually find it frustrating to be left hanging, so I get that. I barely remember Hunger Games, but I feel like I can remember what you mean about it being a bit rushed.
I don’t know why but witches and vampires seem like such a good combination to me.
I agree!
This series sounds pretty good. The covers are great too.
Yeah aside from the very ending, I enjoyed it!
“a witch with the power to replay what happened at crime scenes involving magic”
What a unique concept! I’m not to keen on vampires (sorry LOL), but the witch part sound interesting…
*muttering* Blasphemer coming onto my blog with her anti-vampire rhetoric—
Oh, sorry, hmm? Ah, yeah, it was a cool idea with the magic!
