I always feel like I should announce it in the title when I make art because it happens so rarely, but I’m not that enthused about this one, so it felt weird to draw attention to…
Anyway, I played some more games. I mentioned giving up on Brookhaven Grimoire last time, but I went back to it and ended up finishing the game. There was a frustrating lack of guidance for the player, but I loved the characters, and there are some cute animals and magic!
I also played a short game called Tomorrow for Mar. A nonbinary MC and a bit of magic and romance. It was cute!
I watched Season 2 of Good Omens. I have to be honest, the things my brain is and isn’t able to focus on lately are weird and make no sense, so I didn’t pay the best attention to all the details. But it was still great!
Also I don’t think I’ve seen the last episode yet, but Season 5 of Miraculous Ladybug has had some really good episodes lately!
And I finished Season 1 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. As I mentioned on Twitter (yes, I’m still calling it Twitter because someone pointed out Elon deadnames his own child), I actually thought I had watched a whole season at one point only to realize I had watched four episodes. The show is just A LOT, so it felt like a whole season lol. It has a lot of color and noise, which is too much for my chronically ill, headache-ridden body sometimes, but I want to watch it because they talk about it a lot on Drawfee, and the art is so wild, and people I know have said they love it. It was indeed bizarre, but not in the way I thought it would be?
And now the art. This was a super random quickie. And I have mixed feelings about it. But here it is! A moth demon. He’s just a little guy. Also I played around with some stuff, and I feel like the first picture is just Mr. Grumpypants, whereas the second is when you’ve actually pissed him off and now you’re in trouble 😅
Blog/Bookish Updates:
Emojis are working on my blog again! If you were a victim of the question marks, you have my apologies. Unfortunately, old ones that got converted into question marks won’t come back, which ruins anything I said in blog posts where I was trying to convey a certain emotion with the help of an emoji, but at least new ones should work.
Books I Received for Review:
The Hundredth Voice by Caitlin Like, via Edelweiess. New Adult by Timothy Janovsky, via Libro.fm ALC program. Let Me Out by Emmett Nahil & George Williams, via NetGalley. The Death I Gave Him by Em X. Liu, via NetGalley. Gwen and Art Are Not in Love by Lex Croucher (audiobook), via NetGalley. I am on top of things and have already read all of these! So you can see my brief thoughts below.
Books I Finished:
The two books I was most unsure about requesting (I was interested, just not sure they’d be right for me) ended up being standouts! Also, all the comics had art that was just such a pleasure to look at!
If you’re considering buying one of the books below from Amazon, I’d really appreciate if you’d use my affiliate link!
Confetti Realms by Nadia Shammas & Karnessa – The emotional parts of the story were a bit rushed, but overall this was so fun and had beautiful art!
Sorrow’s Blight by Kaitlin Corvus – An atmospheric ending to a duology about a creepy magical forest and queer love.
New Adult by Timothy Janovsky – A lightly sff story with touching character growth and nice romance.
✨The Hundredth Voice by Caitlin Like – This was delightful! Beautiful art and a really cool story with magic, fae, and ghosts.
✨Gwen & Art Are Not in Love by Lex Croucher – I laughed, I teared up, and I just had so much fun while listening to this! It was so chill with just the right amount of emotion.
The Death I Gave Him by Em X. Liu – A Hamlet retelling with scientists and AI and a building on lockdown and found footage vibes. I didn’t super connect with it, but there were some cool ideas and nice writing.
Let Me Out by Emmett Nahil & George Williams – Queer horror that didn’t shy away from the bigotry and struggles, but also friendship. An abrupt ending, but great art!
Mighty Quill by Emmaline Strange – The characters had so much sex, and the mystery was very obvious, but it was a mostly enjoyable paranormal romance with a cute hedgehog shifter.
I really like your moth demon! For a quickie I think it works😁
Thanks!
We haven’t watched the second season of Good Omens yet, but hopefully soon! We’re thinking there may not be too much on tv this coming fall, with the strike and all, so we’ll have time to catch up on stuff!
That’s smart! I only have Prime for a limited time, so I just watched it right away. Hope you love it!
I like your moth demon! He’s cute . . . in a horror way. 🙂 I hope you have a great September!
Thank you! I feel the same, haha. He’s sorta cute! But he can probably also kill you lol. Thanks, you too!
We watched Good Omens last week. Hated the cliffhanger lol but fun season.
I always love seeing your art! Although for the life of me, I cannot see the differences with these two pictures lol I tried and tried on twitter and thought I did, but now I don’t.
Yeah it was a doozy of a cliffhanger!
😂 These are different from the Twitter ones with/without waterline. The second pic here has wider eyes and a background.
Gwen & Art looks really lovely, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
It really was, thanks!
