Quick Reviews: Mimics & Mayhem // Tails of Stallion Ridge // Runes, Ruin, & Redemption // Fate & Fortune // Sunsets & Showdowns

I’m back with the rest of the books in Maz Maddox’s Stallion Ridge series! (These were the first reviews.) It’s a series of connected m/m romance stories, so I recommend reading them in order, though each focuses on a different main couple, set in a fantasy Wild West world filled with different paranormal creatures. A lot of instalove (or quick love), which isn’t my favorite thing, but *shrug* I had some issues, especially with the last book, but for the most part, these were quick, sweet, and enjoyable reads.

(I’m just going to put the “Recommended For” section at the end, since it’s more about the series than each individual book.)

*Quick Reviews are posts where I share summaries and links for reviews I’ve recently posted to Goodreads and Amazon but don’t plan to make full review posts for here on the blog. Tag links are at the end.*

Mimics & Mayhem (Stallion Ridge Book 4.5) by Maz Maddox

In Mimics & Mayhem, a mimic (shapeshifter who can look like different people) moves to the city to be an actor and falls in love with a piano-playing satyr.

Like the other books, these two fell in love within a week, but it felt right. Another sweet, fun story of love.

Tails of Stallion Ridge Short Story Collection (Stallion Ridge Extras) by Maz Maddox

In The Tails of Stallion Ridge Collection, a minotaur shifter and wolf shifter are on separate paths in life but always find themselves gravitating back to each other.

This is a free collection of shorts about a side character couple, but they were my favorite couple in the whole series. I loved their complicated, angsty relationship!

Runes, Ruin, & Redemption (Stallion Ridge Book 5) by Maz Maddox

In Runes, Ruin, & Redemption, a manticore shifter and spinx shifter / town doctor go in search of a former enforcer (enemy of shifters) whom they both love and who may be in trouble.

This book was different from the others, about characters who already had history and feelings, and about a triad rather than a couple. It also had a touch more action and heaviness, but was still cute!

Fate & Fortune (Stallion Ridge Book 6) by Maz Maddox

In Fate & Fortune, a Native raven skinwalker who’s been alone for a long time falls for a phoenix tarot reader who comes to town with a traveling circus.

These two had a bit more chemistry than some other couples, and I was happy for Sky realizing he had a found family in Stallion Ridge. Another cute romance.

Sunsets & Showdowns (Stallion Ridge Book 7) by Maz Maddox

Sunsets & Showdowns by Maz Maddox

In Sunsets & Showdowns, everyone in Stallion Ridge, plus some new and old allies, work together against an enemy.

I had some issues, including a sort of plot hole and death of a previous main character, but it was a nice finale in most ways.

Recommended For:
Fans of Maz Maddox’s Stallion Ridge Series. Anyone who likes the Old West but with supernaturals, worlds accepting of LGBT+ people and relationships, m/m romance that’s sweet and sexy and a touch angsty, likeable characters, and series with different couples in each book but connected stories.

    ????

Glad these worked for you on the whole though. The queer-accepting worlds alone are worth a read.

Noooo I need my emojis LOL. I already can’t seem to post them on Tammy’s blog – they simply don’t register. But the habit of using them is so ingrained in me that I only remember they don’t work AFTER I’ve tried to add them to my comment…
