Teal is such a pretty color, isn't it? It's not surprising that such a pretty color makes for pretty book covers! It was, however, difficult to find shades that matched, so some of these are more blue, some are more green, but none of these quite fit with the the blue and green posts, so I've stuck them all together here! Enjoy...
I've been doing these color themed cover posts every so often, and, you might not have noticed, but I've actually been doing them in order of the rainbow. I've already done red, orange, and yellow, so today we've reached green! Green was significantly harder than I thought it'd be. I mean, it's green! You'd think that wouldn't be hard to find. I also ran into the issue of such varying shades of...
I feel like this is my most anticipated post every year. I mean, I don't know what you all anticipate, but *I* anticipate it. Book covers are my jam. Little mini works of art! So I love looking back through what I've read and finding the most gorgeous ones. I don't know if book covers have been getting prettier, or if I've just been more drawn to pretty ones since I started blogging, but wow, I...
As I was gathering covers for my annual best covers post, I came to the conclusion that I had too many. Competition was fierce this year, and I had to draw the line somewhere when it came to how many covers to include. But there were just so many great ones! So I decided to do a separate post for the runners up, the covers that didn't quite make it into the top 20 but were close and still deserve...
In all the talk about diversity and inclusivity in books, it's been pointed out that there are not a lot of covers out there that feature POC characters---even when the book itself does. But representation is important, both in books and on the covers, and I love collecting pretty covers to share with you all, so I thought it would be a great idea to highlight some of the amazing covers out there...
This week's topic is hearts! And if you thought I was really crazy enough to base my post on actual, realistic-looking hearts rather than the cutesy heart shape... you would be correct ;-) Ten points to your Hogwarts House. And also ten points to Ravenclaw because this is my blog and I say so. Anyway, I did use some with cutesy heart shapes, but I also used some with realistic-type hearts...
Ahhhhh this post was so hard. It's been sitting in my drafts forever because I just could not find ten covers I loved that had only black, white, and yellow. I guess yellow on its own is a hard color to work with since there aren't a whole lot of usable shades, and it can be hard to see yellow against a white background. It's also very bright and could end up hurting people's eyes if not used...
When I was a kid, there were only two things I constantly pretended to be, and one of them was a mermaid. I used to spread my parents' blue comforter out on their floor and drag myself around on it, pretend it was the ocean. In our little pool, and even in my grandparents' hot tub, I'd pretend I was, well, essentially a mermaid veterinarian, helping all the injured sea creatures. I don't really...
Fun fact about me: I hate boats. And ships. And canoes. Ok, to be fair, I've never actually been in a canoe, but I'm 99.9% sure I would hate them. I have been on some cruises, and I didn't hate those, but cruises are a special exception because they're basically floating towns with neverending food. Anyway, unless there's ever a zombie apocalypse and the zombies can't swim, I will choose land...
I've been wanting to do this post for a while since I talk a lot about disability in books on my blog and have the list of sci-fi/fantasy books with disability and everything, but let me tell you, there are NOT a lot of book covers out there that show any sort of visible disability on them. Especially sci-fi/fantasy books, which is what I like to focus on. A lot of disabilities are invisible, and...
