Book Recs: My 10 Favorite Books in 10 Years of Blogging

Happy 10th blogiversay to me! It was actually last month and I forgot, but ten years is a long time and feels like an important number to celebrate. There are not many things in my life that I’ve stuck with for ten years or more. Gymnastics, visual art, writing stories and poems, and, of course, reading. (Some I can’t do much or at all anymore, but they still lasted a long time.) And now writing this blog!

Ok this post title is a liiiiittle bit of a lie. Because I already made a post about my five favorite books in five years of blogging, and this time, I’m just adding on another five from what I’ve read since then. As usual, narrowing down hundreds of books into roughly five (well, a few extra because series) was not easy, but I did it *wipes sweat from brow* So here are some more amazing books for you all to check out!

Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo

Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo

This book completely sucked me in, and I loved everything about it! The writing, the emotions, the messy characters, the fucked up relationships, the sheer amount of sexual tension. I loved the audiobook too. I’ve listened to it twice.

The Hunter and the Spider Series by E.M. Jeanmougin & Jay Wright

Strangers in the Night by E.M. Jeanmougin & Jay Wright

This series isn’t finished yet, but I’ve loved the six books I’ve read so far! Such a fantastic urban fantasy series with interesting and complex characters, fun supernaturals (including a were-spider), angsty romance, sweet friendship, a little bit of everything, and all of it is great.

The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer

The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer

This book was such a surprise. The description doesn’t do it justice, but there isn’t really a way to do it justice. You just have to read it. But be warned that it will wreck you emotionally. I enjoyed the audio too.

The Usual Apocalypse by Christine Price

The Usual Apocalypse by Christine Price

This is a book I initially read in 2015 but have since reread multiple times, and it’s one of my favorites now. A standalone (well, basically), but another fantastic urban fantasy! I love the characters, their angsty, sweet, scorching hot relationship, the supernatural powers, and the interesting mystery plot.

Simon Snow Series by Rainbow Rowell

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Adjusting my rules again, because I started this series over five years ago but reread and finished it after. I loved these when I read/listened to them, and I have been itching to reread them again. I love and feel for the characters, the romance is adorable, and these books are just great!

I am so MASSIVELY impressed that you were able to narrow down your faves to five! (Or ten altogether, with the other post!) I could NEVER.

Very interested in checking out all the urban fantasy recs; I have such a hard time finding good ones, but if YOU’RE reccing them…!

I adored Summer Sons too, although neither of his other books have hit the same for me. Have my fingers crossed for future books of his, though!

A couple were obvious choices, but a couple were such hard decisions 😭

They’re so good! I got sorta burnt out on UF after a while because a lot of was starting to feel the same, but these ones really stood out. If you loved Summer Sons, we might have similar taste, so maybe you’d like them!

I haven’t read any of his other books because the premises didn’t really appeal to me, but I’d love to read more if they ever do.
