I think we can all agree that inclusivity and diversity in books is great. And what better way to support diversity in gender and sexuality in books than by supporting the LGBT+ authors who write them? So here are some amazing books that I’ve really enjoyed and definitely recommend if they sound like your kinda read!
*I did my research as best as I could, but if I accidentally misrepresented any author or character, or if you’re an author who doesn’t want to be included in this post, please let me know!*
*If you’re considering buying any of these books from Amazon US, I’d appreciate it if you use my links! It will help support this blog at no additional cost to you!*

The Immortal Coil by J. Armand
This gripping urban fantasy series has gay and bi/pan characters, plus vampires, deities, friendships, adorable slow-burn romance, and lots of supernatural fun.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review
Lovesick Gods by Amanda Meuwissen
This author has multiple standalones and series with gay and bisexual characters, but this one in particular has a superhero-villain romance, mental illness, and adorable friend/family relationships.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review
Peter Darling by Austin Chant
This author has multiple books with trans MCs and gay and bisexual characters, but this Peter Pan & Captain Hook romance retelling is my favorite.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review
Bloom by Desdemona Wren
This new adult paranormal romance about a trans girl and a nymph is super sweet.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review
Beckoning Blood by Daniel de Lorne
This is the first in a dark, bloody urban fantasy trilogy with M/M romance.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review

American Hippo by Sarah Gailey
This unique version of the Old West with hippos has all sorts of LGBT+ characters, including one who uses they/them pronouns and one who’s genderfluid.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review
Ninety-Nine Righteous Men by K.M. Claude
This darkly erotic and horror-esque M/M comic involving priests and demons definitely gave me some feels.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review
Wriggle & Sparkle by Megan Derr
Megan Derr has lots of LGBT+ books (including ones with gay, bisexual, lesbian, and trans characters), but this one about a bisexual unicorn shifter and a genderfluid kraken shifter is my favorite.

Withered + Sere by TJ Klune
TJ Klune is another author with lots of books, but my favorite is this dark yet hopeful post-apoc with a M/M romance.
Amazon // Goodreads // My Review
Obscura Burning by Xan van Rooyen
Yet another author with multiple books, but this one in particular, an alternate reality sci-fi with a bisexual MC, was one of the darkest, twistiest books I’ve ever read.

A lot of new to me books in this post, fantastic list! It’s great to see a post devoted to LGTB+ authors and their works 😊
Thanks! Always happy to introduce people to new books 🙂
Withered + Sere is one of the few TJ Klune book’s I’ve yet to check out, so I guess I should remedy that soon! Also, I had to read the “bisexual unicorn shifter and a genderfluid kraken shifter” line twice to make sure I saw it right. I am intrigued…
You definitely should! It was my first TJ Klune book, and I loved it. Lol Wriggle & Sparkle is really cute!
Obscura Running looks really interesting.
It’s one of my absolute favorites!
I’m not really an adult sci-fi/fantasy reader, but Lovesick Gods sounds really interesting. Will bookmark this for my LGBT post recs compilation!!!
Well if you do decide to venture into adult fantasy, Lovesick Gods is a really sweet duology!
Man, I wrote a long comment but it ate it. Okay, let’s try again.
I said that I read all genres and it kind of makes it hard to read any genre well because there are too many genres and therefore I never sinkly deeply into any particular one? And because I rarely look into the authors themselves excepting if I hear things in the book-social-media-world, I wouldn’t really know if the author is an LGBT+ author not. So maybe I have read sci-fi’s by LGBT+ authors but didn’t know?? And Blood on this looks good to me!
Oh no, I’m sorry your comment was eaten 🙁 There’s nothing wrong with reading lots of genres! I don’t look into authors usually either? Or maybe I look into them more than I thought lol. But I follow a lot of these on Twitter because I like their books, or I recalled seeing something in their bios. Anyway, you prob have read something by an LGBT+ author without realizing! I’m not sure which book you’re referring to? But I hope you like it if you try it 🙂
Nice list! Lovesick Gods I’m not familiar with, but love that title BTW- just sounds cool 🙂 – and Peter Darling I just love that cover. I know this isn’t a cover post but still… 🙂 I’m a sucker for the storm clouds thing.
American Hippo did have some nice diversity. And Wriggle & Sparkle sounds like it does too, plus the unicorn/ kraken match up- I mean, I’m SO wondering about that.
Great post- this could be so helpful to someone looking for just these kinds of recs.
Thanks! Lol you know I’m a fellow cover fan, you’re always welcome to discuss covers on any post ;-P
American Hippo did have great diversity, and the unicorn and kraken were so much fun!
What an awesome post for Pride month. I was only familiar with Peter Darling, and interested in learning more about some of these.
Thanks! I thought they were all great, hope you like any that you try!
Awesome list!!
Thanks!
I haven’t heard of most of these books. I’ll have to check them out. I love the cover of Withered + Sere.
I hope you like them if you decide to read any! Withered + Sere is one of my faves!
This list has some known to me authors but some unknown as well. Thanks for this post.
Glad I could help you find some new authors!
I’ve been having Peter Darling on my TBR pile for quite a long time and I think now is the perfect time to pick it up, I’ve never heard of the other books, but I will definitely add a few of them on my TBR!
You should definitely give it a read! I hope you like whichever books you try 🙂
Thanks for the book recs! I’ve been wanting to try one of TJ Klune’s books for a while now. Maybe I’ll start with this one 🙂
Glad I could help! TJ Klune has a lot of books that are loved by a lot of readers! I hope you like whichever ones you try!
Yes to putting money in the pockets of Queer creators!!!! XD
Yep!
I remember most of these books from your reviews here on your blog. I only read Wriggle and Sparkle from this list and I enjoyed that one. That immortal Coil book sounds like a good one, although not 100% sure if it’s for me. It’s a great cover! And while I DNF’s Obscura Burning, I did enjoy another one of that author’s books.
Yep! You’re one of the people who actually reads my reviews lol. I’m glad you enjoyed Wriggle & Sparkle. I’m not really sure if Immortal Coil is your kinda book. I don’t think it’s NOT your kinda book, but not sure if you’d love it either. But yes, it’s a gorgeous cover! I’ve read some of Suzanne van Rooyen’s other books too, but I guess not the same one you did. Glad you enjoyed one of them though!
I’ve heard great things about Peter Darling, I didn’t know it was a Peter/Hook romance. That makes me even more excited!
Yep, the Peter/Hook romance is definitely a plus!
Bloom sounds great, none of these were on my radar so thanks for sharing!
Tori @ In Tori Lex
It’s a sweet book!
I’ve only read Peter Darling but I totally recommend that one. It’s SO good. And I know you’ve talked about The Immortal Coil on the blog before – I need to read that still.
-Lauren
Yes, it was so good! I do seem to talk about The Immortal Coil a lot lol. The author is offering ecopies for review, just contact him if you’re interested!
This is an awesome list! A lot of these are new to me, so I cannot wait to check them out! I’m adding a lot of them to my TBR. 🙂
L @ Do You Dog-ear?
Thanks! I hope you like whichever ones you try!
Great post, Kristen! These are all new-to-me authors, so yay!
Thanks!
Omg, Peter Darling has been on my radar for AGES. I fell so deeply in love with the cover I ended up hiring the artist for my own book! I’m SO so excited to read your review on it, I’m thrilled you included it on your list as I’ve literally never seen mention of it anywhere else! 🙂
You should definitely read it! That’s awesome you ended up hiring that cover designer!
I have Lovesick Gods, Peter Darling and Bloom on my Kindle. And T.J. Klune – but a different book. Now to find time to read them all lol
Great list!
Karen @ For What It’s Worth
Yay, I’m glad you have so many of these already! I hope you like them all 🙂 And I’ve heard good things about TJ Klune’s books, even the ones I haven’t read myself 🙂
(Silently applauding Withered + Sere!)
I’ve been eyeing Peter Darling, because it sounds perfect! The more I read about it, the more I want the book.
Withered + Sere is so underrated! Peter Darling is short but great, I think you might like it 🙂
I appreciate the inclusion so much!
As part of the GLBT community and deep in the midst of Pride month, it means a lot to be counted with these other authors and such interesting sounding stories. Lovesick was a very personal journey for me, and I am so glad that the example of depression came across as well as it did. It’s great to see other authors recognized for these genres that I will definitely have to take a look at!
Thank you as always for sharing!
I was happy to include you and your books! But it always makes feel good to know I’m appreciated as a blogger!
As always, you’ve introduced me to lots of new goodies to add to Mount TBR. Thanks Kristen! I’m only being a tiny bit sarcastic when I say that. 😉😂Bloom is 100% calling my name, need to pick that one up!
Haha, I’ll take the sarcasm if it means getting you read more awesome books 😉 I hope you like it!
Great list! Thanks for sharing these. I love the sound of Peter Darling.
Thanks! Peter Darling is great 🙂
Oh man, I’m always on the lookout for lgbtq+ rep in books so this post is awesome! I’ll be sure to check these out.(:
Glad I could help!
Huh, most of these books I didn’t know about. I’ll have to check these out from the library! Thank you for recommending them. 😀
Glad I could help you find some new books!
I’ve only heard of American Hippo, which btw sounds great. My tbr is growing!
It was great! But then, all of these were great lol. Always glad to add to someone’s TBR 😉
Thank you for really informative, useful list, Kristen:)
Glad you found it useful!
