They're also the books that don't get the attention they deserve---something I keep trying to change! (Some of these first in series are free on Amazon, so check 'em out!)
I have had an AMAZING book year though and am keeping my fingers crossed that next year will be even better for all of us book lovers :-)
(Book/series titles will take you to my reviews.)
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is:
Top Ten Books I Read in 2015
Because I think series are much more than the sum of their parts and wasn’t sure how to intermingle everything, I’ve separated my choices into three sections and cheated a bit by choosing twelve. So…
Top Single Books
4. The Usual Apocalypse by Christine Price
I loved both books in this M-M paranormal romance series, one for how emotional it was, the other for how funny, and both can be read as standalones.
3. Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow
This urban fantasy is the first in a series, but the other books aren’t out yet. The writing style isn’t for everyone, but I thought it was beautiful, and the broken yet badass male protag cracked me up sometimes but also made me feel for him.
2. The Sea Witch by S.J. Valfroy
This fantasy retelling about how the sea witch came to be completely transported me to the AMAZING underwater world the author created. It’s part of a series but each book is like a standalone.
1. Beckoning Blood by Daniel de Lorne
This M-M paranormal romance won’t be for everyone because it’s DARK and blood-drenched, but I completely loved it. This one is also part of a series but also works as a standalone.
Top Completed Series
4. Knight Games Series (4 Books) by Genevieve Jack
This urban fantasy series was funny and quirky with great action and a female protagonist I LOVED for how intelligent, strong, and all around incredible she was.
3. Thieves Series (5 Books) by Lexi Blake
This paranormal romance series has some of the best characters—you constantly want to smack them for disappointing you at the same time you want to hug them. It’s also hilarious and sexy with good plots.
2. The Eden Trilogy (3 Books) by Keary Taylor
This YA post-apocalyptic series had me on a rollercoaster of emotions (especially Books 2 & 3) and really made me think about what it means to be human.
1. The Incubus Saga (3 Books) by Amanda Meuwissen
I adored this whole M-M paranormal romance series. It was sweet and sexy, but it also had great action.
Top Ongoing Series
4. Creepy Hollow (Books 1-5) by Rachel Morgan
This YA urban fantasy is a fun and sometimes intense read that will really throw you around with it’s crazy twists and turns!
3. House of Royals Series (Books 1-2) by Keary Taylor
This YA urban fantasy/paranormal romance is a slower-paced one that really keeps you on your toes with intrigue, angst, unique characters, and an awesome protag.
2. INK Series (Books 0-4) by Bella Roccaforte
I am dying for the final book in this NA urban fantasy because WOW. Never before has a series made me this invested in characters, and each book really builds up on the others. This is the series that made me realize I like dark books and broken characters.
1. Steel & Stone Series (Books 1-4) by Annette Marie
Book 1 in this YA urban fantasy series completely blew me away because it was PERFECT, and the rest of the series has also been amazing so far.
I have heard of zero of these books, and some of them look like something I would love.
MY TTT:Marie @ Pages to Explore
Yay, I’m glad! I will feel accomplished as a blogger if you do end up loving some of them 😛
I love that I haven’t read any of these! That means that there are books that need to be read, by me!
Lol hurrah for new recommendations! I know some of these are free, but if you have a kindle I could lend you some if you decide to read them 🙂
Trailer Park Fae looks fun, I like stories about the fae especially with a dark twist. And the Eden trilogy catches my eye- looks like a good dystopian. I may have to check that out, I haven’t read a good post apoc in a while. I’ve taken a bit of a break from those I guess, might be time to jump back in.
If you want post-apoc, I very much recommend The Eden Trilogy. The first book is free, so you’ve got nothin’ to lose 😛
While I obviously thought Trailer Park Fae was great and have kind of made it my latest book obsession lol, it was maybe not as fun, per se, as the cover makes it seem. But it did have some humor, and it definitely had dark and mischievous fae.
Ink is definitely going on my TBR series for next year. I just found out that the first one is free for Kindle! Also the Ink series has some gorgeous covers.
YES the covers are SO PRETTY. I’m about 99% sure it was the cover and the free-ness that made me read the first Ink book lol, but then I ended up falling in love with the whole series. Be prepared for the cliffhanger, but don’t let it scare you away because it’s worth it. Let me know if you end up liking it!
I always like lists like these to look back on the year and share your favourites :). These books all sound so good! I haven’t read any of the books on your list. I grabbed House of Royal when you reviewed it as it was free. And I am looking forward to your review of Trailer Park Fea! The Sea Witch has such a beautiful cover and I like mermaid stories, so I might have to check that one out.
I have a best books of 2015 post planned for 31 December, so you can see my favourites then.
If you like mermaids you should definitely check it out! I loved The Sea Witch (obviously) and can’t wait for more books from the author.
I would’ve waited until later because what if I find another book I love?! Lol but I wanted to join in the Top Ten Tuesday meme. I look forward to seeing your favorites 🙂
I haven’t heard of any of these! I love that you separated out completed series because I definitely prefer to read those. I haven’t heard of The Bane but it looks interesting!
I prefer completed series too because I’m binge reader! But lately I’ve given up on waiting for series to finish, so now I’m in the middle of literally 17 different ones -_- I have to keep track with a word document lol.
I’m pretty sure The Bane is free right now, so you could always download the ebook and decide later 🙂
